Agree Muddy, Davis Cup lost me a long time ago! I have no idea when they play anymore!

I guess that's the big thing with the new format. The whole damn thing happens in one place in, like, a week (or two?). With the old format, it was all spaced out. You would sometimes have matches happening for the next year before the current year had been settled.

Now on the minus side, one of our guys (Shapovalov), on the march to the final, had to play 8 matches in 6 days. Seems a bit much.

I think it used to travel all around too so each match was in the country of one of the teams. With this new format, the whole thing is one place. In this case, Spain.

Anyway, I can see pros and cons. I could see it getting more popular - maybe more like the Ryder Cup.

Or maybe not. I dunno.

When you duck jail time for tax evasion and rape it can get you flying pretty high!

The local venue of professional sport has hosted some whacky shit in the last day.

Last night the short-handed Raptors fall behind the Mavs by 30 points in the 3rd quarter - but come back to win.

Today the Leafs go up 3-zip - then give up 5 straight - and every kind of thing keeps happening before the Leafs come away with an 8-6 win.

Seems like the fans are getting their money's worth.

Ima go out on a limb and say: there are some attractive women that do figure skating.

Watch out for hot roller skating prankster girls though!

They're very sneaky.

I love college b-ball but it's so nerve racking watching a game where a wager exists! See yesterday, was going to take 20-0 SDST -6.5 against Nevada but backed off thinking I be the guy who loses with their first loss to boot! Well up 7 and Nevada player hits 3 at buzzer for only 4 point win! College hoops isn't over too often even when you hear the fat lady singing! At least my interest level stays high!

I would find it really funny if the Astros toadally sucked this season.

That would crack me, oh so thoroughly, up.

The NFL is good till 2030! Appears to help the "little guys" get more cash! Good for them! F the rich dudes, they got enough!

The union's dues-paying members voted 1,019 to 959 to approve the collective bargaining agreement proposed by team owners, the NFLPA announced Sunday.

The league now not only can offer an expanded package of games — in addition to the 17-game regular season, it will expand the postseason from 12 teams to 14 teams, with an additional contest in the wild-card round and only the top seed from each conference receiving a bye.

The proposal, however, offered short-term incentive to many players simply looking to secure a roster spot. Rookie minimum salaries will increase by $100,000 in 2020, while other minimum-salaried players will see a boost of at least $90,000 this year, according to a fact sheet disseminated by the NFLPA prior to the vote.

Among the other notable changes as part of the collective bargaining agreement:

The preseason will be shortened from four games to three, with the fourth week serving as a bye.

Active game-day rosters will expand from 46 players to 48, while overall rosters will grow from 53 to 55. Practice squads will expand from 10 players to 12.

The maximum length of padded, full-speed practices will be reduced from three hours to two and a half.

A new, neutral "discipline officer" will rule on punishments for violations of the player conduct policy. Appeals, however, will go to Goodell, who will have final say.

The drug policy will reduce the testing window for THC from four months to two weeks at the start of training camp. Players cannot be suspended strictly for testing positive for THC, and the limit on nanograms of carboxy THC per milliliter increases from 35 to 150.

I feel bad for David Beckham, worked so hard for a free stadium and in the week of debut the world shut down

Sometimes the sports channels are replaying old Leafs games these days. Best of. Which is weird because the Leafs have really never been good in my lifetime. At least not since I started forming permanent memories. They've never been to a final. A whole lot of the time they have been atrocious.

So how do you even pretend to have a best-of?

But whatever, these channels need content so - tada - there is an old Leafs/Flames game on right now. I have no idea the significance.

The other weird thing though is, I cheer for the Leafs these days. I adopted them a few years back. But when these games were happening not only was I not cheering for them, I kind of hated them. They were probably my least favorite team.

So I see these games and I see the blue-and-white jersey and I feel like I'm supposed to like them - but reality wins out. I hated them when the game was happening and so I hate them when I see the game now. My brain knows. That collection of guys? Fuck them.

Seems to be how it works.

:dunno:

Classic Leafs games of my lifetime.

It's an oxymoron.

Is my point in brief.

Eh I seem to remember a lot of excellent Leafs teams in the 90s. Maybe they didn't make the finals, but they were a top team. Remember that coach with the mustache, he died recently?
