Wifey has taken over rent-paying duty since we moved, simply because she had the landlord's email address and I didn't.

Turns out she likes to pay the rent 2-3 days before it's due. I told her that was wildly abnormal and she thinks I'm crazy.

Renters of Gamelive, have you ever paid your rent BEFORE the 1st of the month? Who does that?

One time I paid 6 months ahead because I didn't know when I would be back. Done the Western Union payment also.

I think it's a cool thing to do. Shows the landlord respect, nothing to worry about. In fact, I'm new here and I love my landlord so I think I might follow suit.

Did the landlord deal only in cash? You could have given him postdated cheques or set up the bank account to send monthly payments.

It was down in latin america, cash based, no checks or apps or any of that sort

I thought about things and realized that I really need something I enjoy when not working (which is awesome in all facets - and I'm so deeply thankful). It was internet poker which I'm decent at, but the bottom line is when all the guys at the tables are talking about how much they miss being regulars at the casinos due to the virus, well there isn't any money there especially if everyone knows you're an ubertight setminer - which I've been basically called out as multiple times by guys playing on all the 1/2 tables. Sure it's cool to make friends, but it's about roi and there's barely any recreational players. Down the line when my pockets are deeper I might revisit that but only when I can spread across multiple rooms and have no one get to know me. That's the only way my strategy works in the internet climate.

Anyway, so as a result I moved forward with this:

More of a training guitar than anything, but that's all I need for now. I've never played that brand and I'm sure the action will be a little rough, but that'll only make me better when I get a better one. My one roommate is a drum player/teacher whom played with Brian Setzer, and we talked a little music and he said he's actually taught some students a couple Kings of Leon songs (he didn't specify which ones). He loves the Black Keys as well and U2. Me he can teach me some things about rhythm, etc.

Should be cool.

Machu, any thoughts on this? I know it's garbage compare to the stuff you work with - but as a training guitar/setup. Seems like a real bargain.
 
Can't craigslist guitars or probably anything ever again.

Got ripped off by a guitar guy (meets me in a parking lot then I go into a jam and the pickup doesn't work) and a fake employer.

Appreciate that though man.
 
I don't know what's going on with this guy. One day he's ready to start a band on the sidewalk, next day he's trying to learn to play on a $100 guitar :hog:
 
I guess my guitar is 1973. That's when it was bought for me anyway.

My Heintzmann piano is well over a hundred. Poor old thing.

But hey, musical instruments could do a lot worse than ending up with me. They have been loved.

Very profitable week with work, so invested in this as well. There's actually some remarkable musicians at work (as there are here) so let's have some fun and see what we can do.
