Also, I'm going to do an FTP (Functional Threshold Power) test on a stationary bike as soon as gyms reopen. It's basically a 60-min effort on the bike which gives you the power (in watts) you can maintain over that timeframe. As a reference, world-class pros can typically maintain ~400W over an hour.

I did an outdoor version of the test yesterday and using bikecalculator.com, I came up with 230W, which would seem to make sense given my weight (high for a cyclist) and fitness level (average at best). The wind and road condition and wonky GPS data all contribute to mucking up the data, but I think the real number is probably not too far off.

Also curious to know my 1-min and 5-min max. I'm more of a sprinter than an endurance guy anyway.

I've regained a bunch of weight since getting off keto. 196.8 this morning. Waist measures the same so it seems to be all water weight.

I'm not concerned with the scale number anymore, I just wanna get leaner. Should I invest in skinfold caliper thingies?
no - not needed

you know where you are at

use the cycling goals as the challenge

next level

in a keto state, you have depleted the glycogen stores from your muscles almost down to zero. The water leaves with the glycogen

when you start eating carbs again and those glycogen levels go back up. you store 4 parts water for every 1 part of glycogen.

so yeah, you should just have puffier better hydrated and energized muscles (intracellular hydration)

Wise words kato and Arch

Puffier muscles for Matty! Sounds like the Mrs. Is going to want another baby!

Rod Fuckin Bottrell *shakes fist*

So a bunch of us local Strava users are currently engaged in a friendly competition centered around that decommissioned CP railroad trail. My other archnemesis Rob V destroyed the record today. I just gave it my best and beat my previous PR by 40 seconds. 17th overall and 3rd of the fatties. Feelsgoodman 🥳

Matty, I think you and your boys have become too big for this thread. Possibly a new thread dedicated solely ..... Big Bicyclists Club!

Just looking at the pic again, they call themselves the Western Pennsylvania Wheelman

Matty, you got to come up with a name bro!

I need to have my wedding ring resized.

Really wish the wind would shift. I’ve been having to ride south instead of north because of the wind but going South means at least double the amount of traffic lights. That’s a lot of starting and stopping.

No trails near you Tron? I like to get away from traffic lights and stop signs as quickly as possible.
