I'm a huge fan - Small Change (197...3?) is one of my Top 5 albums of all time. Be warned that 90% of his stuff is dark as fuck... slow, meandering trash-folk-blues. The Wire's theme song is by him btw - I think his version was used in Season 2.

Real Gone is one of his better recent efforts IMO. Hoist That Rag is from that album.
 
I will put him in rotation on my mile long list of albums to purchase. Every two weeks I knock 5 out. It's insanity Matty. Insanity.
