An asteroid will be hurtling past Earth on Oct. 31 and astronomers are calling it Spooky. Because of Halloween. And wanting astronomy to seem very accessible to the common man. And whatnot.

In what area is it going to be visible?

Seems like, though the fly-by is being described as "dangerously close" you still need a telescope to view it. It is supposed to move across Orion's shield the night before Halloween if that is any help.

Ah, I thought it was going to be naked eye visible.

Yeah, no. Much bigger than the one that came down in Chelyabinsk but still, size and distance-wise, it's like trying to look at the Empire State Building on the moon.

Astronomers like to justify themselves by making a big deal about stuff.

Our particular universe is quite a thing.

Some serious forces at work, there.

Mesmerizing.

Let's not forget the scale while we're watching that video:

Your scale is gay. -housepicks

Go away, housepicks.

Why should there be anything? I sometimes wonder.

I don't know.

End of story.

Lol, yeah that was.

I saw the whole video. That is our god.

Who is this anyway? The comment makes me think Newton but that ain't no Newton.

That would be Franz Anton Mesmer.
