I'm pretty sure pavy is just messing around guys.

If he is serious then pavy consider this example.

You find a soccer game you wanna bet. pinny has -120 O1.5 , but you don't have money there. You do have money at my book and I offer you -10000000000000000000 for the offer. From your speaking so far you'd take my line b/c it doesn't matter.

I bet mostly parlays in soccer. Very rarely you will find 3 games you like on the same book with the best lines. This is why I said when betting a parlay at -140 all 3 games and some are -150 it won't hurt my bottom line because I will never get all 3 games at -140 at the same book. But if you are playing football or basketball that have spreads then you have to calculate how much half a point costs when doing line shopping. In soccer line shopping is not important since there are only 3 outcomes. No spreads involved.

I want to continue learning about reading a line but I think I will stick with traditional capping. Devoting myself to line movement doesnt enable me someone to abuse when the game loses. At least when I cap the game myself and it loses I can bang my head against the wall for the mistakes I made.

learn about volatility. Stop banging head. Losing bet does not necessarily= mistake

Handicap however you want. Just realize that all teams have some chance of winning/covering. Handicapping is not picking a winner (anyone can win), but picking the undervalued side.

Please try to get that through your head, Wally. You'll be a better man for it.

The result of one bet provides almost no valuable information whatsoever. The results of an entire season when betting only a handful of games a week doesn't even tell you much about the strength of your methods. You should be in the perfect position to understand that now.

This thread made me realize that I'm tired of teaching people this shit.

OH SNAP!!!!!!!!!!!

I just realized something. I made a mathematical decision today without even realizing it. By choosing the Phils Team Total I increased my odds of winning because they are guaranteed at least 9 innings to reach or exceed the total.

Wal = :mrx:

Course this mathematical edge means SQUAT if these kok's don't score some friggin runs.

MonkeyFocker, this is made possible because guys like you teach guys like me. Even if I didn't realize the edge existed prior to making the wager, I would have never realized it was an edge had you and guys like you not taken the time to point out stuff like that.
