I was having this conversation with wifey a couple days ago - I think Bill Burr is a fantastic talk show/podcast guest and a pretty bad comedian. I don't care for his stand up but he's always an insightful and funny social commentator when he shows up at someone else's thing.

This is a solid breakdown. I tend to find him funny in an "oh yeah, that's true, ha," kind of way as opposed to a laugh out loud way.

Unlike say a Chappelle or Louis CK that tells a story with clear points of comedic emphasis, Burr just tells a story in a funny voice, which can be amusing but not "funny", if that makes sense.

Yeah exactly. Burr leans too much on his silly yelly voice cause his stand up material is mid. He has a super sharp mind though which makes him well suited to casual convos and debates that veer into observational comedy.

He’s known as being a clean comic, right? I watched about 15 minutes of his material and just couldn’t get into it

But I’m not surprised because he’s so different than my Top 5
