Bloomberg has published an excerpt from a soon-to-be published book : 'What’s the Economy For, Anyway: Why It’s Time to Stop Chasing Growth and Start Pursuing Happiness'

And a question for those who are not self-employed: How many vacation days do you get ? I get 30.

In 1965, a U.S. Senate subcommittee predicted that as a result of increasing labor productivity from automation and “cybernation” -- in other words, the computer revolution -- Americans would be working only about 20 hours a week by the year 2000, while taking seven weeks or more of vacation a year.

But in 1991, the average American worker put in 163 more hours on the job than in 1973, according to the sociologist Juliet Schor, the author of “The Overworked American.” Since many more families had two parents working, the increase in annual working hours per family was much higher -- 500 to 700 hours more than in the ‘70s.

I get 30.

Yeah yeah, fok off.

I get to live the Canadian Dream. :wah:

Anyway half those hours are spent looking at funny GIFs and finding Wall-E.

So, how many vacation days do you get Matty ? Oh I don't get any extra leaves if I fall sick.

2 weeks vacation for kato

need holiday

kato, 2 weeks vacation = 10 working days off or 14 ?

10 my brother

and holidays

15 is the standard here and it is what I have right now. I do have an extra 10 sick days and a couple of "personal days" that need no justification.

My bro lived in Paris for a couple years and he got the standard 25 as soon as he was hired. I heard tales of daily 2-hour+ lunches with wine. Here in Toronto, if you have a beer during lunch, you're told to go home. Montreal is way more lenient and laid back in general.

if I have a boss I make up in my head am I self-employed? (s)he provides laughs like laughing to myself humor must keep that in mind.

Kato, do you get any sick/casual leave? Yes, 10 public holidays are in addition.

2 weeks sick as well

pretty casual here in regards to that

I get 22 days of paid vacation a year (that's 4.5 weeks a year) and about 8 paid holidays.

So, it's not too bad. But, yes you can't take a bunch of sick days off. And they might ask for a medical certificate. We used to have this long leave+sick+casual = 30 nonsense but it changed to unrestricted 30 days in a year within a month of joining the company. I hardly work and spend 7-7.5 hours at the workplace but I still hate it every day.

Europe is the best when it comes to paid leave.

vagabond- salary+bonus for kato=the more days i take off, the less i make

the bonus structure makes me work more

holler

Technically I'm given 12 days a year for vacation. I prefer to leave/quit my job when I want some time off to find myself. It's easier that way.

Why would you want to create a boss in your head unless she's some slut who wants to get spanked ? You are self-employed. But, maybe you can chime in as well regarding vacation ? Do you set aside some days when you don't bet or do any betting-related stuff ?

because it's funny to say 'at least boss is happy' when I donk away 10k because all he/she cares about is volume.

dont really take vacation days just kinda stop betting and go out and drink and take drugs sometimes. or just start drinking and continue betting i've really been making a point of going out and getting laid tho ever since freefall and fairwarning scolded me. we all family so i took it to heart ya know.
