Just went to a picasso museum. Is the thing with that guy that he was just really bad at making art? Thats his thing right? Really shitty art?

A Las Vegas casino operator who says he paid $7.2 million for a work of art he was assured had been painted by famed abstract expressionist Mark Rothko is now suing to try to get his money back.

Frank J. Fertitta III contends in his filing that the untitled Rothko painting actually was one of dozens of fakes painted in a garage in Queens, N.Y., by a Chinese immigrant.

No but seriously man, that story is actually a couple years old and there were a bunch of lawsuits against the Knoedler Gallery of New York - involving $80 million in forgeries by our Asian garage painting dude - which flowed through the Knoedler - that were settled earlier this year with terms undisclosed.

The moral of the story - in case you haven't picked it up from the thread title: paintings can be worth money.
 
Would make for a nice conversation piece in the living room.
