Guy came out and hydrojetted the line ($$) and it was clear past the roots identified by rooter type guy. Unfortunately then he got stopped at the main, probably collapsed pipe. So the first guy was kind of wrong - replacing the lateral pipe (from house to street) won't necessarily do shit. We gotta dig up the street and fix the connection. This is gonna be expensive...
How old is the property?

No sueing. More like begging the city to find some issue on their end... they replied to my request for them to investigate with this:

"I've forwarded to Holli for e-11 ticket and referral to Jerrod."

Wtf.
Get one of your neighbours to report a foul sewage odour in the area, they will send either a bylaw officer or city worker to investigate.

Spoke with Jarod. He confirmed the city line is clear. Said he stuck his scope up my line and there was gunk and it came back with roots. Now I have to decide between trying to clean it out (again) or replacement. Probably gonna bite the bullet and go with the latter.

After calling 3 local companies and getting nowhere (long timeframe, outright declines to take the job) I engaged the second line clearing company to excavate the street and replace the junction. They took my deposit (50%, mid 4 figures) two weeks ago. They were supposed to start today but Theresa called me this AM to say they're still waiting on a permit.

I'll report more as soon as I have it.
