Give the McCallan 12 and 18 year another chance. I don't see how you couldn't love those..

Bar I'm going to tonight carries the 18. Lesdoit. :moped:

So I had the Macallan 18 last night, t'was a 20 dollor shot at the pub. it's very very good and easy to drink. Strong nose, maple syrup and honey, very pleasant. Then there's an explosion of sweet flavors in your mouth, with a touch of added citrus/oranges. Again, very good. The finish follows the main theme and it's longer than usual for such a sweet, uncomplicated sherried malt.

All in all I like this a lot but it seems way overpriced. This is not quite in the same sophisticated league as the Dalmore 18, more in line with the simple yet excellent Glenfiddich 18 which is less than half the price.

Still, on merit alone, this'll rank pretty high. Good flavorful shit.

Damn. Pretty sure I've only had the 10 and 12 then.

Macallan 18 debuts at #7.

Glenfarclas 17 - Nice sherry aromas with a hint of smoke. Tastes younger than it is, like a sweeter, less smokey version of Highland Park 12. We like this a lot and would love to see where it goes with further aging. Will have to look for the 21 & 25.

Isle of Arran 10 - Nose of honey and citrus. Very strong alcohol taste/burn, unlike any scotch I've tried. This'll rip your head off, bourbon style. Not bad and somewhat interesting, but very rough and un-scotch-like. It'll take me forever to finish that bottle.

New entry at #16, Dalmore 15. I did some A/B testing alonside Dalmore 12 and I struggle to explain the differences between both. In fact, at some point, I forgot which glass contained which whisky and I couldn't tell them apart. The 15 is supposedly aged in 100% sherry casks while the 12 is 50% bourbon/50% sherry, but it's really hard to tell the difference. Since the 15 is $35 more expensive than the 12, we have to rank it lower than its younger sibling. Don't get us wrong, it's awesome shit. We're hugh fans of Dalmore. But a hunnerd dollorz is a lot of money. We expected more.

Fok off.

Added a bunch of stuff, shuffled a bunch more. Notable addition at 1b. Ardbeg Uigeadail. OMFG. HUGH whisky. 90% smoke, 50% sweet sherry, 140% IN YO FACE. Our favorite peat monster so far. Wow.

I would love to see someone buy one of those bottles and drop it on the way out of the store.

That is just so ridiculous.

They're rather reasonably priced for 50yo+ whiskies. Distilleries usually only have one barrel's worth of the stuff. These two will sell to some random businessmen in no time.

In 2010, Dalmore only had 3 bottles' worth of 64yo spirit. They sold 2 of the 3 for over 100k GBP each.

I hate that people who buy these will never open them. If I was rich enough to afford that shit I would open it on my birthday and share it with a bunch of friends. It's just liquid. Godly fokken liquid.

LOL. I don't know if I'd call anything about buying a $17k bottle of liquor reasonable.

If you bought one, I'd drink it though.

Truth be told I'd rather have $17k worth of acetone-washed blow, but then I'd die halfway through.

:wah:

17k is alot of money for recreational activities that only satisfy for a few hrs
