We live 3 minutes from the Phillies spring training field. Which game should we see?

Was this a serious question??

And what's with the Kevin Costner shot? He's been in what are considered two of the best baseball movies ever!! Personally I like Bull Durham a lot better than FOD, but the latter is considered a classic. Bull Durham is fucking awesome in every way.

He was also in "For the Love of the Game" or something like that. I haven't seen it, but have heard pretty good things.

Yes all three are very good. Bull Durham is absolutely amazing. FOD is what it is..feel good baseball movie. For the Love of the Game is underrated in my opinion...sure it is a little corny but still it is good. It is a movie that in which the main character replays his life and career in possibly his last game ever....good stuff.

I watched The Cove the other day. Neat documentary-slash-thriller - subject matter is disturbing though (dolphin slaughter), so do not watch if you can't stand watching animals get killed on Discovery.

I see what you're doing here blittay. :pink:

The first Cocaine Cowboys was interesting - the 2nd one gets a bit redundant.

Are you serious matty? Those fuckin villagers build high tech subs out of like bamboo and bushes and shit. They travel under water with 6 men and 50 kilos of blow like 3,000 miles. Pretty interesting stuff IMO

I don't think you guys are talking about the same movie.

The first Cocaine Cowboys was incredible. Probably the best film of that genre. It's Scarface and Blow in real life. The second Cocaine Cowboys was all about that sick bitch and her ruthless crew. It wasn't anywhere near as interesting.

I think Blitty maybe hallucinated this bamboo submarine shit.

Yeah, I meant Cocaine Cowboys 2 - haven't seen the 2nd movie blitty mentioned, but I certainly will now.

Watched 'Precious' last night. What a dark powerful film. Mo'nique was unreal.

I knew what this film was about, and it still snuck up on me. It's a fucked up world out there kids. Best to watch from the sidelines sometimes.

I equate Precious to porn. You wait the entire movie for the money shot. I liked the movie but it was lacking something and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Mo'Nique fully deserved accolades from the Academy for portraying one of the most vile characters I have ever seen in a movie. Vile, yet human and not comic book villianesque.

Exactly, vile yet human. There are real people like that out there and they are horrible and it is easy to just say they suck and write them off, but if you dig deeper you also have to wonder what happened to them to end up that way. That's what that "moneyshot" really did for me. I was sitting there wondering WTF happened to her.

Precious was all about breaking the cycle. It is a theme I see a lot in my volunteer dabblings in the areas of trauma and addictions. People do horrible things to other people who in turn do horrible things to other people - and it will go on and on until someone breaks the cycle like Precious.

I think Precious would have made a lot more sense to win Best Picture than The Hurt Locker from a critical standpoint. It had a bigger message.

I agree with you Muddy on Precious being a better candidate for Best Film than Hurt Locker. I really enjoyed it.

I also enjoyed the power of her imagination. In the most despicable of situations, Precious could drop herself on a catwalk where she was cheered for and adored.

Escapism is fun.
