I heard Russia will hold no quorums against shifting to stealing top tier hockey players to the KHL

Fuck the KHL. It's a glorified AHL league with little to no NHL calibre hitting.

Meanwhile back in Canada, our government has shut down once again or 'prorogued' Parliament. For those of you who do not know what this is:

prorogue def; Discontinue a session of (a legislative assembly) without dissolving it.

ie; they are hiding from a scandal. In short, our crooked elected officials are just taking a paid holiday and not dealing with the Syria issue at all, or anything else for that matter. In the news today.

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau says Parliament should be recalled immediately to debate the situation in Syria – whether Canada plays a role in any intervention or not.

Harper knows that the majority of Canadains are not pleased with the Cons and the Senate scandal. Prorogueing parliament has absolutely nothing to do with Syria. The Cons are on the way out and the Liberals under little "Pierre" Justin Trudeau will form the next government in Canada. Pierre Trudeau was the most important and best frenchie that ever lived. The guy had balls. RIP Pierre!!!

The proroguing had already happened before the Syria conflict heated up...

I don't wanna highjack the thread RJ so if you want more info google Canadian Senate Scandal 2013 and you can read about the extra $$$ our senators have been caught spending.

Bang on!!!

the question is how is syria going to retaliate? there's pretty much nothing they can do to stop the incoming missiles

what is assad to do? fire into turkey? fire into jordan? no way they look into israel it would be complete and immediate destruction of the regime

i predict hezbollah want no part of this

he'll do nothing and declare victory. cruise missiles don't really do shit (just waste a few hundred million $).

Syria has S-300 missiles which can hit tomahawk cruise missiles. And the crews of these missile batteries are Russian. Obama would think twice before going after them. The S-300 shot down a Turkish F-16 last year so they are very deadly vs american made weapons.

Lol. They could take out all of their air defenses in one night with 0 american casualties if they wanted too. They don't want to. They want Assad to stay in power, he serves them better than the alternative.

Cruise missiles are one of the more meaningful jobs programs funded by the Dept. of Defense. They might not be that effective, but they are an option likely to be used in any conflict. If only the rest of the US Defense budget could be so marginally effective.

You would think the Americans would learn their lesson and not pick sides in these conflicts, especially in this part of the world. If Syria is indeed using chemical weapons against its own citizens that is horrendous, but the U.S. will just kill one cockroach only to have another one emerge.

But like the poster above me mentioned there are a lot of war hawks in D.C. and they get trigger happy every 48 months or so. Gotta feed that war machine.
