The fuck is Fossil?

I bought a big pack of Christmas wrapping paper prolly 15 years ago and I've been using it ever since. I wrap what needs wrapping then put it back in the back of the closet for another year. Still plenny left - she'll be going for some years yet - but whatever.

Point is, I just noticed, it's in a big bag that says FOSSIL on it. Both sides. FOSSIL.

I don't ever remember there being a store called FOSSIL. I don't remember there every being an anything called FOSSIL.

In summary: FOSSIL wtf?

:dunno:

Fossil Group, Inc. is an American fashion designer and manufacturer founded in 1984 by Tom Kartsotis and based in Richardson, Texas. Their brands include Fossil, Relic, BMW, Michele Watch, Skagen Denmark, Misfit, WSI, and Zodiac Watches.

Duh.

I own two Fossil watches. It's tasteful low-end shiz. Been around quite a while.

I didn't realize there was a black national anthem (for the United States) until day before yesterday.

I was watching a black comic (who looked really white to me but that's another story) but anyway she started talking about it. I thought it was building to a punchline - like I might joke that the white national anthem is Why Does it Hurt When I Pee? or something - I'm zany like that - but no, it's an actual thing.

The American Black National Anthem.

She started singing bits of it and black audience members were joining right in.

I had no idea.

I recently read about Cosmic Crisp apples. Apparently they're the next generation of spaceage super-apples. They're a cross between Honeycrisp and Enterprise.

Cosmic Crisp.

I love Honeycrisp apples and am willing to pay extra for such a good apple. Anyway today I popped into an unfamiliar grocery store and, lo and behold, I saw my first Cosmic Crisp apples.

For reference sake, Macintosh apples were $1.99/lb and Honeycrisp were $3.99.

That's fairly normal. My usual store is cheaper but whatever.

Cosmic Crisp were $4.99

Well I bought a few. I haven't tried them yet so I will report back on that.

No I like Honeycrisp better than Cosmic Crisp. I am not familiar with the Enterprise apples used in the cross-breeding but they must be a bit bland.

A Cosmic Crisp is a slightly blanded down Honeycrisp.

It's the same as far as not turning brown though. You cut it open and leave it sitting around - it barely turns brown. It's the same technologically advanced apple.

But I like the taste of Honeycrisp better.

Lactose-free milk tastes like milk-flavored water.

It is suddenly dawning on me, I haven't seen one of my superintendants for quite awhile. Months.

He's an old dude - very old. He had been showing increasing signs of dementia-ish-ness for a few years now.

But you'd always see him around. Wandering around the grounds out front - or in the laundry room. I would frankly avoid him so I didn't get dragged into one of his rambles.

Except not for a few months now.

I wonder if the old dude died or something.

I finally got the poop on this. Not dead but he's been taken out of the game and is under constant care.

Of course the way things go these days, that could drag on for years. Who knows?

I don't plan or expect to ever use my Keurig coffee maker as a mode of transportation.

So let's just get that said.

I can't drink coffee anymore. It causes palpitations which then trigger panic attacks. Even too much decaf will put me on edge.

I used to do a gram of blow daily.

Somehow I don't think these two things are completely unrelated.

:fok:

Yeah gave it up awhile ago, makes me edgy as well (despite no prior blow habit :lmao:) and it gives me the runs, sucks. It can be so tasty, especially the gourmet stuff.

I roll with a very decent iced tea habit these days.

Door opening in the city at establishments. It's one of those moments where you have to acknowledge and be acknowledged by strangers. Do you say thank you (I do every time), how far is the person behind you/should you hold the door open for them, how should you calculate their appearance into said distance.

Everyone trying to give the sincerest thank yous to strangers at such a fast pace.

Then the bum holds it for you on the way in and the way out. Do you thank him/her each time.

It's all so fuckin intense.

Really heart palpitations/panic attacks just from coffee though? Out of nowhere?

I have a history of those if I pound mass amounts of caffeine and for some reason just one red bull will do that to me. They used to make me feel like was going to die. No fun at all.

That sucks man.

We get older and our bodies change only for the worse. Sucks.

I can comfortably drink 2 cups of coffee a day.

I’m usually ok with a 3rd cup after lunch if I’m in the mood.
If I have 4 cups of coffee in one day I start thinking about going to the ER.

I did exactly that this summer. I was home with a bad cold and I ran out of Neo Citran so I started making coffee to soothe my throat. Three cups later, I was freaking out and power-walking to the nearest ER. And of course, after waiting 6 hours to see a doctor, I was perfectly fine again and the hospital staff kindly sent me back home and referred me to the psychiatric unit.

The emergency psychiatrist listened to me and gave me a brochure on deep breathing exercises.

Free healthcare y'alls 😎😐

Hah. In the states they woulda ordered 6x expensive tests, brought in a specialist ($$) and diagnosed an ongoing and regular course of Pfizer meds.

I'm a three to four cup guy between 6am and 1pm. Mostly half-caf.
