It has nothing to do with being polite enough. It has to do with being polite, period. If someone who I'm not friendly with out of the blue needs to talk to me, how about they ask for a contact method or at least ask for me to write them?

No clue why he feels we need to talk at this very moment but whatever the reason, he can make it happen. Telling me to do something isn't the way to go about it.
