Best fight scene ever...

they live ultra hd

Carlito's Way (1993)

Been rewatching some of my favorite movies from years ago to see how they hold up.

This is a totally mixed bag. I love certain aspects of this movie. Sean Penn's character as the slimy lawyer is the best part of this movie. Absolutely A+ and I think he actually steals the movie from Pacino.

The best Al Pacino scenes have to be the pool trick scene and the hospital scene towards the end.

The scenes with Penelope Ann Miller are brutal, regardless of her perfect rack. The music during any scene with her in it is like 1/10. Not sure who decided every scene she was in needed the cheesiest music of all time, but it's terrible. I'd recut the movie without her and just leave her as a stripper so we can see the full frontal without her as part of the plot.

Random thought: Luis Guzman may be a top 2 all time small bit actor. He is good in everything I've ever seen him in. He's awesome as Pachanga. Another role I absolutely loved him in was Jacopo in The Count of Monte Cristo, which I really want them to release on 4K.

Bottom line:
Rotten Tomatoes has 84%
IMDB: 7.9/10

I definitely would have agreed with those ratings years ago.

I think this one deserves more like a 7/10
despite my nostalgic affinity for it, it fails in too many areas. And it's nowhere near in the same league as Casino which I just watched. Maybe not a fair comparison but it's in the gangster genre. God damn, that's still an absolutely flawless flick. Casino is a top 5-7 in that genre. Not as good as Goodfellas or Godfather 1 or 2, but certainly holds it's own.
