Maybe I'll become a fan

On further reflection, I don't need any college teams. A little sports fandom might be interesting for some additional flavor in life but no sense overdoing it. I don't think I have it in me to think about that much sports if I tried.

I may even pass on an NHL team. Not sure I could whip up enough of a frenzy to follow a whole fokking NHL playoff run. I can't watch the game and that shit goes on forever.

So what I've got is definitely the Blue Jays and Raptors.

And I should definitely have an NFL team. I actually look at the NFL. The playoffs are very tidy and managable. That's what I need to work out - an NFL team. Dallas though? Yikes. But it's the only thing that makes sense. The history of irrational fandom is already in place. Anything else would be ridiculously contrived.

But yikes.

Now that a certain mob of blue-and-white-clad fanatics is aware it’s not wanted in Bytown (Ottawa) on Feb. 23 — the next time the Leafs play the Senators — what are the odds they don’t descend in formidable numbers?

In an effort to minimize the number of Maple Leaf fans at Ottawa Senators home games, the Senators recently sent an email to season-ticket holders.

The message told Senators subscribers they could get first dibs on additional tickets to Leaf games in Ottawa at a 20 per cent discount. But the access and price reduction came with a catch.

“We are asking you to ensure that the tickets are used by Senators fans and not re-sold to the general public,” the email said. “Any seats being re-sold will be subject to cancellation and loss of privileges with respect to future additional ticket pre-sales.”

The thrust of the campaign, the email later summarized, was to “not allow (tickets) to get into the hands of fans for our rivals.”

Do the Rays take measures to prevent Yankee fans from attending Rays home games?

Blitty the point of the story is that the Ottawa Senators are taking extreme measures to keep Leaf fans out of their building.

PS: The Senators will fail miserably with this attempt, that is obvious to everyone except them.

Yeah, the story is funny cause the Sens think they can prevent that from happening. The only way to do it is to raise their ticket prices to Toronto levels, but then the avg attendance would drop to 5,000.

They should embrace hockey fans from out of town instead. Nothing wrong with an arena full of hooligans. Earn your own fans.

To my friends from the north, are Canadians passionate about Kitchener Rangers or the Barrie Colts.

Their are people in Kitchener that are passionate about the Rangers, same with Barrie.

It's local.

Having said that it's different in various parts of the country.
In Regina the St Pats are important, as are the Blades in Saskatoon.

I've been to a St Pats game, I remember lots of Clark Gillies photos all over the arena.
 
Devils Management constantly takes affirmative steps to stop Rangers fans from flooding the rock. The message season ticket holders and even air radio spots pleading devils tic holders not to sell to blue shirts fans.

Might be a hockey thing.
