T'was those SAS Scandinavian bastards. They made us check in our carry ons too because of a lack of space in the cabin, I had zero faith that the luggage would follow us through the rebookings.

Me - You're not gonna misplace our luggage, right?
Smiley SAS dude - No no! Your luggage will follow you.
Me - *nods* I trust you.
Smiley SAS dude - *awkward laugh*
Me - *awkward laugh*

We did retrieve our luggage in Rome. Pleasant surprise.

Guided tour of the Colosseum this AM, after which I wanna check out Appian Way either by bike or on foot.

We had our first pizzas last night, they were quite good.

Our room is funky - it's likely a Renaissance-era building with super tall ceilings and windows. JL is going through a horror movie phase and he thinks the room is haunted.

tbh room looks haunted

Side story

Once stayed in a room in Savannah where I'd lock the bathroom door and it would open over and over again

Also late at night heard someone walking around the room. Jennifer said it was someone upstairs, but I know the difference when I heard it, was definitely in the room and not from above.

Turns out it happens quite often at that hotel.

We paid 54 EUR for 3 gelatos today, like the dum dums we are.

Rome is more of an amusement park than a city. Everything is fine-tuned to extract as much cash as possible from you.

To be fair, the gelato guy upsold us and we could've easily objected, or asked what the upcharge was. But who the fuck checks the price of ice cream.

54 EUR is EIGHTY-FIVE Canadian dollars

:potato:

T'was good though

I got goosebumps when we did the gladiator walk into the arena. Toadally worth the 24 EUR guided group tour.

We visited the catacombs of San Callisto after that, that was nuts. No photos allowed inside though. Seventeen popes and over 500,000 people were buried there between the 2nd and 5th centuries, roughly. Huge huge underground maze spread over five levels (only 2 have been fully excavated so far.)
