been having troubles lately with my laptop lagging when trying to watch vids...
whether it be on YouTube or porn... always choppy and lagging


also FB is just about useless on laptop.
constantly freezes up or locks up... only remedy is to refresh page them it will catch up sometimes

most aggervating is trying to watch vids though by far
can do w/out FB, it works fine on my phone though.


so whats 1st step to take.
I got avast program that catches all malware before loading pages.
what else can I do, maybe got to much shit stored and memory is getting overloaded

but checked the CPU usuage thingy while watching the lagging vids and its only around 20% usage according to it???


any ideas?
also is there a program to make my speakers louder... free program that is.
full volume and can barely hear them now
 
Try to shut down as many applications as you can that may be running in the background; go to the Task Manager and try to shut down useless processes...sometimes programs run in the background...like torrent sites or other software. This is a PC you are talking about? If so, which Windows? They will soak up your RAM
 
Senco, macs are good for guys like us. I used to always have those same programs. macbooks are so easy and never have problems. worthy investment.
 
think I got windows 7
in task manager every thing is shut down except youtube and email from what I see
should I run avast to go through all files and check.
never do it cause it takes hours.

no clue about Macs v/s whatever
honestly dont know what difference is with a mac and other laptops?
 
I didn't either until I got one.

Super easy to use, reliable, and no viruses.

It's been a very pleasant past few years.


Obviously other guys here think otherwise, but they are more comp literate than us.
 
read that firefox would solve the FB issues which it did.
but having to enlarge font size every page turned me off from FF.

maybe easier way to make pages bigger permanently with FF?

You pay more for Macs, they are easier to use,and they don't get all the viruses like other computers.

A program you should try is File Hippo. It will check everything on your computer at startup (only takes 30 secs or so), and alerts you to program and system updates. Very good chance you need some driver updates. They will help your computer also.

also hardly ever shut it down completely when not in use. I just close it, puts it in sleep mode???
should I shut down when not in use? cause any problems not shutting down?

I'd shutdown at least once a week and do regular updates, if anything, for updated security patches.
 
did the hippo thing and updated all suggested
so far YT is working better, no lagging

is there a free programs that will boast volume above default settings?
 
If you use the VLC media player you can up the volume to 200%. It has almost all the codecs so it plays pretty much everything. Set it as the default player for all the media files.

right mouse click audio file...should say something like "open with"


select VCL and be sure to click box "use always"
