in Ontario they use the book value of the car or the actual purchase price, whichever is higher.

In NJ you put the purchase price on the title and hand it over to them in the bathroom of a go-go club if you want! THe buyer goes to DMV office! So with 2 individuals involved you can sell car for 5K and put $5 on title! How's it in Ontario?

I think Audi may have a new slogan on their hands......

"The Audi A5: It's Not Terrible"

Actually as ridiculous as that may have sounded yesterday, I almost agree. Almost. I just test drove that car, and it was a fun ride. Lots of fun. However, sunroof only vents (wtf?) no nav (just climate control and radio and seat adjustments mostly). I don't know. I really do like the look of the car, but I am not quite sure it's worth it. I am going to go back and probably test drive something else, just to be sure. I figure if I am going to shell it out, I better like everything about it.

Yep. I came away feeling that if I wanted a car to just rip around in, there are better options than an A5...

When the buyer goes to transfer ownership the book value of the vehicle will show up on the DMV terminal and be printed for viewing, back in the day you could say you paid 1$ and they wouldn't challenge you, lost tax revenue forced them to change the system, I am surprised quebec hasn't followed suit with using book value. They know they are losing money under the current system.

Saskatchewans way is the fairest, tax is only paid once, sell your car within Sask and there is no sales tax charged again.

Also since everything is now computerized declaring a low purchase price could come back to haunt you should you make an insurance claim.

Good luck getting anything close to $5k from insurance for a vehicle you declared purchased for $500.

At least in SK being honest doesn't have to cost you later on.

Have you looked at any American cars Cougar? You can get a brand new loaded Dodge Challenger, Chevy Camaro or Ford Mustang with the money they ask for a used Audi A5.

It has to be something that doesn't have RWD. Not sure on the Camaro but I am positive the Challenger and pretty sure the Mustang are RWD. That shit won't fly during the winter months in Northern Illinois. I'll end up in a ditch, quick. I did look at the new Passat while I was there. Not a bad looking car actually. Except the back of the car is boring. Inside was nice, big and roomy too. Guess I am not sure what I want. I might go back and test drive this white BMW I saw. It was sharp.

Cougar maybe now you have a new car you should do a tour of the Eastern US visiting Gamelive posters! Start from Chicago go east to NY area via Detroit and Toronto then south to Florida and then up to Chicago. You will probably see 80% of the Gamelivers in this legendary trip!
