It's usually the alt broadcast channel on NBC. For example 6-1 is NBC, 6-2 local, 6-3 Universal Sports.

Uverse does not pick up those alternate or sub stations. I would need to get an antenna going and try to grab the over the air broadcast.

That was with the older tv models. They didn't use to built in the digital tuners to save some money. Now almost every single one has it.

My tv's are fairly new HDTV's so if it is standard to have them, then I am sure I do.

I am confused as to how it would matter for me if I don't have an antenna.

Where would the digital tuner pickup the alternate channel from?
