Hey! He was registered as a female! Besides, that is a totally different issue than the one MF and I were disagreeing about.

You cannot legislate evil. CA already has extensive background checks, a ban on guns and limit on ammunition clips. None of those laws stopped what happened. In fact, two were broken by people intent on destruction. Their homemade IED's demonstrated the fact that they were intent on destruction in any way possible. All you do with gun control is try and control the law-abiding people.

Like that guy in Colorado last week...

Selective processing is SO inhibitive to personal growth...

Oh wait...

He was Pro-Life, so that made sense.

Solid points...

Nothing will change unless its at a federal level (that way at least the states have to fall into line)...

Don't know whether you aware but we started monitoring here back in 1989 after the Martin Bryant incident (where he killed 26 people with high powered weapons)...

Since then there's been a 50% reduction in homicides where a firearm was used (knife homicides have gone up though but as im sure you already know its a lot more difficult to go on a mass killing spree with a knife than it is firearm)...

Yeah people can still get firearms on the black market (that will never go away) but thankfully 99% of us are good honest hard working people who simply want to get on with our lives unimpeded by someone who can gain access to assault type weapons (from my understanding even on the black market here buying an assault firearm is like finding hens teeth. You have your handguns and shotguns but not much else in between)...

the irony is that statement..

Standing up for pro life by killing people..

Nothing wrong with that line of thinking AT ALL...

the only way the US federal government will be able to "control guns" is through a bloody war. We simply won't give them up. And each and every time that Obama mentions needing more gun control, gun sales see a spike.

And there in lies the problem of leaving people to decide over matters that are far more powerful than themselves...

West Africa rang they want tips on how to be as barbaric as you lot...

Its fascinating just how far your willing to go in protecting a simple construct ie something you shouldnt have any emotion over...Its like witnessing a implosion from the inside out.

The nations priorities are beyond messed up and everytime i hear about another mass shooting am thankful I won the global lottery by being a white male that lives in Australia where we are so far removed from global and medieval type conflict etc...

Lol.

I felt like Keanu in the Matrix today. I must have dodged a dozen or so random bullets.

Yeah you lot are doing things right...

Zero tolerance carry from my understanding...

Blitty how has the firearm homicide rate changed since NYC introduced the tougher laws??

More guns is a deterrent of crime. If you are a burglar and you knew I pack lots of heat in my house you will hit my liberal neighbor's house who is supporting stricter gun laws and has an Obama/Biden bumper sticker.

Can you prove that with stats or thats just your opinion?

Ive never seen anyone back up those kind of statements with reliable stats...

Just sayin

funny but I don't know any who just leave them laying about for people to come and steal. I pity the fool who tries to take one of Mr. Nina's. Mr. Nina has guns hidden all over the house and is never without one. Not to mention some really wicked looking knives and this sweet Japanese sword. And my Marine (once a Marine, always a Marine) can still kick ass better than most younger guys. Neighbors know he has weapons. Co-workers know he has weapons. Not once has anyone been foolish enough to try and steal one for "easy money". Because they also know, he hits what he aims for.

CA has extensive background checks, a ban on assault rifles and a limit to ammunition magazine capacity. Two of those strict laws were broken in this shooting. The Wally toys (remote cars) at the apartment that were armed as IEDs had the potential to be just as dangerous, if not more so, than the guns. Perhaps we should ban remote cars? When the US Attorney General has the unmitigated gall to say that this shooting was a "wonderful opportunity" to enact more strict gun laws, that should scare the living pee out of you. This country was born on a not all powerful central government. The founding fathers had to convince basically 13 separate countries that they were better together than apart. That's why they created a system where the states had the majority of the power. It worked pretty darn good. But no, all you smarter than thou crowd think that following the footsteps of Stalin and Hitler would produce different results this time because it's you thinking that now.

We're actually following in the footsteps of Abraham Lincoln rather than Jefferson Davis. Why do the modern-day secessionists want to call themselves patriots so badly? The war was lost. Federalism won.

maybe thats what he's trying to do. :dunno: I don't trust what these people say, only the results of their moves. I don't see what the point of bitching about guns is every time some foker shoots up a place. Maybe they can change some laws that will have a small effect in 50 years. But there's no anti gun law they can feasibly pass that will change the culture of violence and guns in this country anytime soon.

How about start by showing some respect to people, you know like stop teaching violence and greed and war, and saluting the troops and all that bs. Stop feeding us hero gangsters and superheros. And how about working towards justice as a community and a nation so that large segments don't feel marginalized and that they are unjustly treated etc. etc.

They were laughing at Carlins "jokes" but he wasn't joking.

Matt Johnson of The The talks about Islams rise (amongst other things) 26 years ago in a song.

"Armageddon Days Are Here (Again)"

The The

Lyrics

Are you ready Jesus? Aha
Budah? Yeah
Muhammad? Ok!
But all right friends, let's go
They're 5 miles high as the crow flies
leavin' vapour trails against a blood red sky
Movin' in from the East toward the West
with Balaclava helmets over their heads, yes!
But if you think that Jesus Christ is coming
Honey you've got another thing coming
If he ever finds out who's hi-jacked his name
He'll cut out his heart and turn in his grave
Islam is rising
The Christians mobilising
The world is on its elbows and knees
It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds
It's war, she cried, It's war, she cried, this is war
Drop your possessions, all you simple folk
You will fight them on the beaches in your underclothes
You will

It's all about street cred, not respect. Respect is a two-way street, show it/receive it. Not enough show it.

So we should alienate and shun the troops?
