So the craigslist guy I sold my bike to threatened to sue me..

He discovered on carfax that in 2011 the bike was labeled 'Not Actual Mileage'.

Like I was supposed to know that and inform him of it.

He said it's not worth what he paid and unless I give him 1k back:

"My lawyer will contact you and you will lose!"


Fok'em.

Weird. Mileage is not tracked on bikes up here.

These things are usually abandoned/wrecked way before the engines are worn out anyway.

Another detail is that when I was registering it at the dmv I accidentally put down 6800 miles instead of 8300.

Then told the guy I only drove it 100 miles.

So he's like wtf..

But dude I explained what happened and the bike runs perfect.

Eat a dick.

It's a 5yo bike that (presumably) passed a safety inspection. Relax, ride and enjoy.

It passed my safety expection in December with 8200 miles.

No idea what happened in 2011. Strange.

Boner already rejected my case. Unreal.

I just read a bit on that "Not Actual Mileage" title and it could mean that there was an engine swap at some point, or that someone along the way wrote down the wrong mileage in official documentation.

It's unlikely that someone tried to commit odometer fraud on a 5yo bike, but who knows.

Again, these things are easily good for 6-digit miles. And that guy is bluffing anyway.

Did anyone see the one that looked like the rider was in a hazmat suit? I think maybe it was part of the bike, though.

The guy I bought it from (2nd owner?) said there was some sprocket/gear work done by guy before him, and the odometer read 8mph faster. Possibly related to that..?
