Matty you are correct. Should have said that network TV fits within 1st post parameters.

Government funded TV can be quite informative and educational but still robs the viewer of time itself (even if it is self imposed).

That's not really what I meant though, I'm referring mostly to news outlets and how they massage the info and choose what the "news" is. Recognizing bias and bullshit is a big part of the TV-watching experience.
 
Nice, xpy. I probably watch about three hours of TV per week. There are two shows that I watch, How I Met Your Mother and Boardwalk Empire. Outside of that, I'll watch CNBC from time to time.

I'm close to zero TV and have gone weeks without turning it on, but don't have the temptation that most people have I guess. I'd much rather spend my time doing something constructive.
 
Reading, walking and just sitting in my backyard (i.e. doing nothing) takes up most of the time. On occasions, I would skype for an hour or more. The lack of urgency to be somewhere or to do something in the morning is the key for me. You just do things at an easy pace.
