yeah, they've shown they are willing to do this more. The owner has at least shown the willingness to spend on the draft and amateur free agent signings the last 3-4 years, and they extended McCutch.

I'm just skeptical of their ability to develop the talent to begin with, with all their high draft picks they've really only turned out 2-3 legit all-star caliber player in two decades.

the only have 1 impact batter anywhere near the Majors.

the top level pitching prospects just don't excite me as much as having impact bats.

hopefully the central stays shitty so they can continue to win with pitching only and fielding 4-6 below avg players a game
 
cool. My once favorite team. Been planning to go to their game in Colorado in mid July. Haven't been to a game in years. It's a mid week afternoon game, my favorite kind.:up:

Archie, in agreement with Fiver on this one! Yea you can look to the future but who knows what may happen? Trade deadline still aways off so if right in the thick of it near the end of July than just stay the course!

Why do anything? Don't buy but squeeze the max and ask for the moon off any team that wants some player from you and see if they bite? And if Pirates like you say have been selling high than they might have too many guys ready to come up if that is possible?

GO FOR IT! Could you imagine a one game playoff between the Pirates and Phillies! Dreaming!!!
 
NL Central seems to be a wide open division. Blue Jays should move to the NL Central. Or at least AL Central.
 
Its my Hope that the Pirates will be 6 games under .500 and near 10 games out, by July 1

For two months the Pirates as a team have combined to hit about as well as a good hitting pitcher....

.618 OPS in April
.617 OPS in May

the won with luck, winning more close games than they should, and GREAT pitching...

For the month of June they finally started to hit.... .771 OPS good for 9th overall in all of MLB

now their pitching sucks

I need both to suck so they can be out of the race come late JUly

Reds just gave away a game in San Francisco. A horrible 9th inning offensively and Jay Bruce made a Little League attempt at tracking a flyball that ended the game.
