What do you think of this art work?

First off this isn't mine. I'm going to show you work from both a guy and girl who I go to school with....absolutely amazing. I'm thinking of buying their art ....might be a good investment. What do you think? Who's art do you prefer....the guy or girl...or both?

Investing in art is like investing in anything, you need to identify something at less than market value and/or something that you know will grow in price in the future. Art is unique in such a way that a piece of paper can be worth $0.01 or $10,000,000 depending on who the artist was.

Who's art do you prefer....the guy or girl...or both?

They are both pretty good at drawing but their artistic value is pretty low. I mean they can do better than I could attempt but I can't sing but can appreciate a good singer (and can tell a bad singer). Art generally has to say something without specifically having to say what it is saying (although you get your point across by the title of the piece which is very important and something you didn't include).

Having said that, the shark one is pretty good. It doesn't say very much but it's a very good concept and painted pretty well.

Caricature art is a tourist town, quick money last resort medium.

With the RDJ painting...he put a lot of detail into the face while the body was clearly an afterthought. Was that intentional?

I liked the girl's paintings much more than the guy's. Personal taste.

I don't like the demonic or gory one. Even though I don't like it I agree with poly the shark one is the only one that seems to convey a message. I like the pilots one.

I could see myself buying the Bill Murray one. And I'm with Robyn - from the head up Robert looks amazing but the body just seems to have been painted to fill the canvas.

Whenever I buy any kind of art I assume that it's sunk money and buy it purely because I love it for some reason. If some day it turns out to be worth more than I paid for it then that's a great score but I'm not holding my breath.
