I didn't see any movies this week so nothing to discuss there.
I have been watching Season 3 of Breaking Bad - I think I've seen 8 episodes so far. Loving it.
So here are some random movie-related thoughts.
Watching reviews for Larry Crowne, I saw 3 different reviewers describe Julia Roberts as one of the most likable stars working today. I don't think I know anyone that likes Julia Roberts. My one buddy despises her so much, he refuses to see anything she is in - even if I assure him that it is really great in spite of her (Charlie Wilson's War).
They also describe Tom Hanks in same way. I agree he has always been and remains likable - but is it slipping? I say yes, a bit.
Hanks co-wrote Larry Crowne with Nia Vardalos who wrote My Big Fat Greek Wedding. That was an odd phenomenon. It made all kinds of money and got several award nominations - despite being one of the worst movies of all time. Painful to watch. The reviews I saw of Larry Crowne were 2 thumbs down and 1 thumbs up. Based on the Julia Roberts and Nia Vardalos factors, I am suspecting I am more likely to fall in with the thumbs down crowd - although I'd say there is a pretty good chance I will never see it.
I understand the new Transformers movie is 2.5 hours long. I haven't seen any of the Transformers movies and I won't be seeing this. Lots of people will though - no doubt about that. Many happy returns to one and all. Remember to pee before it starts.
Other new release options this week: Bad Teacher and Cars 2. I dunno man.
