Good lord.

Twilight Eclipse - The last Twilight movie I watched on acid and it was awesome. I remember being completely sucked into the movie two or three times. I watched this one sober and fell asleep. No but seriously, it sucked.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - Some strange little girl with a bad attitude, facial piercings and back muscles gets raped. For two hours. And she films it. Then I think there was a murder mystery that was solved or something.

Twink?

Grown Ups - Yeah, I knew what I was in for going in. But I figured with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock involved, there at least had to be a couple funny moments sprinkled in here, right? Right!!?!? Wrong. I felt myself getting tense five minutes in. I was physically angry 15 minutes in and finally turned it off after 30 minutes. Don't ever ever ever watch this movie. But you probably already knew that.

Piranha - Man I really wish I went and saw this in 3D at the movies. What a complete laugh riot. I loved it. 70's gore rehash at its very best. A very special mention to Jerry O'Connell as the scumbag 'Girls Gone Wild' type exec. A funnier death scene you will be hard-pressed to find.

Splice - After watching Piranha, I thought this was going to be another silly horror film. Not so. Splice is a clever little sci-fi film that has an intersting take on the whole cloning/splicing topic. Definitely my second-favorite film of the weekend behind Piranha. If sci-fi isn't your thing, at least watch to catch an amazing sex scene involving Adrien Brody. It rocked my socks.

Winter's Bone - Great story, fantastic performances, recommended. :greencheck:

You really are a disgusting human being.

And you forgot about Drive Angry.

How did I forget about Drive Angry!?!?! OMG!!!

Drive Angry - Inexcusably, we never went and saw this when it was showing. So once I heard that it was being released on dvd this past Tuesday, I was excited for the weekend.

On Friday after work I stopped by Blockbuster, and I was bewildered to see that they were carrying only five copies of Drive Angry. Even the worst of the worst will usually take up an entire shelf or two upon immediate release if it boasts a household name celebrity. Five copies. And they were all gone.

So I picked out some other movies and went to the counter. While being rung up, I noticed a copy on the counter behind the cashier. I asked if it was available.

I knew I was into something special when both my cashier and the girl working behind the other cashier both yelled at the same time that I should NOT rent this movie. They stressed to me how absolutely horrible it was. I explained to them that this was exactly what I was looking for. I live for dreadful Nick Cage movies. I then rattled off titles like 'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans,' 'Ghost Rider,' and 'Wicker Man.' My cashier then got a bit defensive, stating how great a movie Wicker Man was. I rolled my subliminal eyes and added Drive Angry to my pile.

It did not disappoint.

I looooove you Nick Cage! I love you so so much!! XOXOXOXOXOXO

On a side note, I think I'm done with the dopey hats, glasses and tshirts phase. I want to start dressing like the bad guy here when I go out. I probably can't pull it off, but whatever.

Apparently Hollywood is doing an English version of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I guess the plan is to probably do the whole "Millenium trilogy" eventually. I liked the first one in the Swedish group (Dragon Tattoo). The second was pretty weak and the third was somewhere in between.

The only movie I have seen since the last discussion was

Saving Grace (2000) - British comedy with Brenda Blethyn and Craig Ferguson who also wrote it. It's kinda like Breaking Bad Lite. Very lite. Just not as gritty/funny/interesting/sensible. Straight looking aging lady gets into growing pot. A lot of obvious humor out of that. They even have a bit where some really old ladies unwittingly get into the pot and get totally wasted and act in a way that looks nothing like a pot high. Omygawd it's so funny when old people do things that aren't typically associated with old people. Calling Betty White for the American version.

No actually the movie had a decent first half and a certain amount of charm. I don't have the heart to actually give it a thumbs down. 5.1 out of 10.

That's alot of films Breaddy, I haven't heard of half of them. How in gods name do you have 2 hours for an adam sandler film but no time to gamble, there was hockey and mma this weekend, soccer this week, nba playoffs???

I do like the gothic fashion idea, you should start wearing a cape like this guy or renaissance pants, fuck em all

I saw Splice awhile back. This was what I had to say:

Splice - Sci-Fi thriller with Sarah Polley and Adrien Brody as scientists making creatures in their lab from spliced DNA of multiple species. It does not go entirely smoothly! Issues arise, both physical and philosophical. Not totally my cup of tea but I could see it having a cult following. They definitely left the possibility of a sequel open. I give it a 6 out of 10.

I was going to see Splice as a rented however decided I already saw it in 1995 the first time it was released as Species. And I think there have been 2 sequels to that. I remember Species 2 being watchable and 3 being insamely awful. And not in the good Nick Cage way.

Can still not believe you watched Grown Ups. I personally think Sandler's black comedies and more serious attempts at acting are more genuine. Also I can only stand so much pee-pee and poo-poo humor. He's okay, but Punchdrunk Love is his best film by about 200 miles. My gf told me once that she didn't like the movie and I proceeded to force her to watch it. She still didn't like it so now every time it's on we stop and I make her watch it until she leaves the room.

I'd like to add that I was watching various reviews of new movies today and one big release right now is X-Men: First Class. FWIW it got a pretty good review from Richard Roeper but a slight thumbs down from Roger Ebert.

Anyway what I wanted to talk about is January Jones who is in it and has a clip which I saw a couple of times today.

January Jones plays Betty Draper in Mad Men and I have often wondered if she is the worst, most wooden actress I have ever seen - or is she in fact doing an outstanding job of portraying this character whom, it would make sense, would be very repressed and wooden and uptight?

After this clip today, I have decided. You might not think you could generate such a strong reaction from such a short clip but I am now convinced that January Jones is in fact the worst actress of all time.

That is all.

It makes sense that January Jones is the worst actress of all time ANNNNND is also portraying a wooden uptight stepford wife. She just got lucky probably.

I'd like to add that I can not wait until they run out of comic books to do bad movies about, fucking prequels now, unreal.

Red 2010 - You've got a loaded cast with Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Karl Urban with Robert Schwentke in a Spy shootout movie that feels like they all had a great time making this spy, shoot em up comedy. Don't be expecting anything meaningful, but if you want to watch some classic actors and actresses have a good time in what is almost a mock version of many of their prior works I recommend this for some fun.
