Congratulations to the $10M trust fund socialist who grew up in a Manhattan penthouse.

I don't have a problem with those facts, but I do think it's sorta ironic.
I know close to zero about the new NYC mayor other what my Caught-In-The-Algorithm MAGA friends have told me so I googled him.

Mom was a filmmaker and Dad was a professor @ Columbia University.

Is the Trust Fund Baby money from grandparents/great grandparents?

He himself has described his upbringing as privileged.

Its only ironic if you 100% expect the kid raised with privilege to then protect the privilege when given to power to do so.

If you call a kid with privileged upbringing being a democratic socialist ironic you are either acknowledging that he's going against his upbringing (somewhat noble id guess) OR you're acknowledging that privilege begets privilege though it shouldn't.

I suspect haters just throw the word irony around b/c it sounds good not realizing that they're EITHER giving him props or criticizing the system of privilege in this country.

I for one think hes going against his upbringing and at least in his words (and actions as a young adult and nascent politician) is a bit noble, though entirely misguided.

I agree with some of this assessment.

And I'm not a hater, simply pointing out something so obvious it should be on the minds of everyone voting for him, and it clearly isn't. Trying to become the mayor of NYC after being a citizen for 7 years or so seems lofty, unless you have millions behind you which he does. He is also extremely good on camera and has a canned answer for everything (good politics). Not a hater. Not in the least. I don't think it will work out the way people think it will though. Ultimately time will tell. For the record Cuomo wasn't a good mayor either so New Yorkers had a tough choice between 1 hack and 1 inexperienced socialist.

Has any politician ever?
