Wynn Resorts opening in mid to late May

MLB will be coming back (opinion)

I’m feeling really good about my Memorial Day prediction

Did you guys read all of the hoops and ladders they laid out to reopen? And that's for a casino for some degens to sit around playing slots, not a team sport. Not sure how anything in this article would make you feel good about baseball coming back.

Giving masks to casino guests should go over well. 😬

I miss Vegas. Would love to bring the family to AZ/NV soon.

I don’t know what we would do here at Gamelive without our little bowl of sunshine, Vegas Dave.

Yes, I read the very long, detailed document. That’s for the initial re-opening in Mid May. MLB would be 2 months later in my opinion.

Yeah, you told me to eat shit and die. You are a real model of sunshine. ☀️

So the MLBPA needs to agree to a pay cut, cautious states likes NY and CA need to greenlight the plan and international travel needs to resume (unless you cut the Jays out of the league or force them to play in Buffalo or something?)

Plus with a bunch of states reopening in early May, you're basically guaranteeing a big second wave of infection by the time July comes around - unless the virus becomes severely incapacitated in hot weather, which is basically our only out at this point.

Tron I really take no pleasure in being a Debbie Downer but I don't see this happening.

Why would the MLBPA not be ok with a pay cut in a season where they played 30-40% less games?

International travel will absolutely not be the reason there is no MLB this year. Deadbolt immortal lock on that one.

My understanding is that there is an agreement in place as far as compensation goes, but that owners would want to reopen negotiations if the lockdown doesn't end very soon. I don't have a source handy right now, I just read that a few days ago.

It's just one obstacle among very many.

(Still, what do you do with the Jays?)

Matty why do you believe so strongly that there will be a massive second wave? Just masks in public as a societal change to status quo almost guarantees that doesn't happen (subject i guess to your definition of massive). No?

if states start opening up next week, I expect another wave. People being stupid will be prominent.

I don't think masks do much of anything for the general population. And if you're honest with yourself, not touching your face is physically impossible. I'll sometimes touch my face while reminding myself not to touch my face.

But more generally, I think (know) that people are fed up with this thing. Even I, as one of those who believe that a prolonged lockdown is the best approach, can't help but plan outings and motorcycle rides to a friend's cottage, etc. It'll be 10x worse once summer hits in the northeast. I'm having near daily customer appointments where guitars get passed around. I wipe down the case handle and that's it. I get within 6 feet of at least a dozen people anytime I leave the condo. Elevator, grocery store, liquor store, etc.

I'm slowly easing back into my normal life against my better judgement.

We're over it, and it'll take advantage of that.

(IMO/GAMBOL as always)

So you CHOOSE to get the virus! Silly Quebekker!

I cant stop touching my face, itchy cheek, nose etc etc, its impossible.

That article doesn't say what you represent it does and certainly doesn't quantify "massive."

Dave shared the article, not me.

By "massive" I mean the same amplitude (or worse, obviously) as the first wave.

People are gonna have to decide this stupidity and fear is not worth it. That's starting to happen.
I also think there's a fair chance the virus ran it's course naturally, despite the idiotic attempts to isolate. And that would mean, no significant 2nd wave. If they're gonna stop again because 1 player gets infected somewhere, we'll be living like this forever.
