I did something similar a few years ago.
Ripped the fucking carbon monoxide detector out of the wall only to realize it was the smoke alarm.

Fokken carbon monoxide detector is hardwired to the electrical system in my house and it starts shrieking everytime I turn on the gas oven.

Fok a bunch of 120db cooking. I suspect a conspiracy involving the local take-out places.
