I have to agree with you here! Wouldn't consider 8000 a mansion in reality! Funny though the example in the link shows the Bitmore Estate which is 175,000 sq ft! Just saying!

I have friends who live in 4000 ft houses. 5 bedrooms and a basement and you are at 4000 ft. A mansion should have at least 10 bedrooms and 5 baths.
