Man I can say in my poker adventures the mind can be a very selective thing when reflecting on experiences.

Bacon, I think the years in GA and talking about my misadventures in general has kept my mind pretty sharp in my gambling recollections.

Some people fudge numbers in how much they lose. Before I stated that recap above, my guesstimate in my head was about twice that much.

I have always been a gambler who had a big winning streak and big losing streak right after or just a small bleed out over a period of time.

Never been one to win over a long period of time.

Considering I have gambled 25 years of my life, I don't think what I have lost monetarily has been awful.

Now what I have lost in regards to relationships, that's a different story.

You're very likely to be ahead at some point in a session of games that have close to a 50/50 chance of winning a given round.
This is not a great accomplishment iag. Of course the chances of doubling your bankroll before busting in roulette remains slim. (assuming your bankroll is considerably more than 1 bet) the more bets the slimmer the chance.

Your best chance of doubling your bankroll is betting it all on one spin

You and I will play will roulette sometime. You will see grasshopper ;) Just make sure that you have 8 hours set aside. And I am not sure what you are referring to when you say close to 50/50 chance of winning on a given round. Maybe you are not referring to roulette. Roulette has some the worst odds of the table games I believe....at least the non European wheels.

red or black. covering half the #s, would be the same thing.

Now if you were betting only one # almost half of your sessions you would never get ahead.

Betting $80 a spin for 8 hours your expected loss is around $1000. You better have one hell of an advanced strategy. Or at least the casino should be giving you a new car every year :winkwink:

it's not just black or red 50/50 because of the 0/00 which are green and the house advantage. My average spin is actually more than $80. What I gave Casper was a scaled down version of what I play...but I do tweak it as necessary during the course of the game. Obviously luck figures into it as well, but there are much better ways to play it than others.

And the comps were amazing...no car though.

I have a friend who went to Vegas and was going to martingale red or black system. He played red and it was black like 13 spins in a row...he was done like an hour after he got there. hahahaha. Dumbass. lol

We'll have to carry on this conversation another time (I have a feeling you are not done and we may have to agree to disagree for now,) but in any case, I'm going to bed.

I just mean a bet that has close to a 50% chance of hitting versus something like betting a single # which has 2.7% chance.

Look at it this way. If you covered 35 of the 38 numbers you'd have a 92% chance of winning. Youd be ahead for your session right away 92% of the time. If you only bet 1 number theres prob a 30% chance (off the top of my head) that you never get ahead.

Is the 1st strategy better than the 2nd. It's actually alot worse if you wanna give yourself a chance to win in any reasonable sized session.
