Smart money bets Georgia to win the BCS next year with that joke of a schedule.

Won't happen FW. Sure this year you had a non-conference champion play for the title but it will be highly unlikely to see it again UNLESS you had 2 teams the caliber of this years LSU and Alabama teams. Georgia won't be in that league of talent or performance.

People can bitch about SEC bias or how can a non-conference champion be playing for the title and maybe on some scale they can make a valid argument but in this particular title game the BCS got it right. Not because I'm an SEC fan, not because I have rose colored glasses ( I didn't think Florida should have played for the title in a re-match against FSU) because of just how good those 2 teams are.

Georgia WILL be put in that class because of the SEC Bias, every week is a tough game according to SEC Homers. Oregon loses to LSU on a neutral field and drops 10 spots. Bama loses on their HOME field and drop 1, WTF is that? What if LSU lost to Georgia in the SEC championship? Bama got a total pass while LSU had to play an extra game. That is what people outside of the SEC are pissed about. Sometime the results on the field must matter and here it didn't. Lets face it, all they beat was Arkansas and that gets you a BCS Championship bid?

When Ohio St was getting into the National Title game and laying an egg against SEC opponents was it so much better because there was a broader representation?

I hate the way the BCS is set up but still think the best 2 teams played for the title. Maybe Oklahoma St would have scored, maybe Oregon, Maybe Stanford wouldn't have totally embarrassed and maybe Oregon would have kept it closer than 13 (with some garbage score when the game was essentially over) this time around.

Maybe they would and maybe they wouldn't. The thing is we KNOW Bama couldn't score a TD. Each year is independant of previous years. How bout we cancel the CBB season and have UNC-Ohio St play the best of 35 since its obvious they are the best two teams. Sounds pretty dumb, doesn't it. Now show me where the regular season mattered when it came to Bama?

thats kinda not fair... bama beat a half dozen teams that made it to bowl games and with all winning except vandy i think and then revenged the loss to lsu by humiliating them...i dunno, i can see the argument for them not deserving to be there, but its happened before and with other conference teams, so im okay with it...they would close at anywhere from 7-10 pt favs over every team in the nation.

that being said, i think the sec will have an extra target on them next year  ... its flawed, we all know... whaddayadoo :dunno: you bet fuckin hoops, thats what ya dooooo!
:bigearguy:

Uhh. They lost one game to the number one team in the country by 3 points. What on Earth are you talking about?

Who else deserves to be there? A team that got blown out by that very same team earlier in the year (Oregon), the team that lost BADLY to the team that got blown out by that very same team earlier in the year (Stanford), the team that lost outright to a team with a 3-6 conference record as 28(?) point favorites (Oklahoma St.), or the team that played a bunch of nobodies and lost at home to TCU (Boise St.)?

What exactly is your gripe? How is it a joke?

Ore was missing the one of their best players also. If you cant even play for your league title, how can you play for the national title with a shit schedule?

FW, I do think that these big conferences should have a revolving schedule for non0conference games where they can only play other big conference teams. I understand the non-conference games against smaller conference teams serve as fluff for the major teams as well as seriously needed income for the smaller conference though so I doubt you will see them go away.

I also would be ok with ONLY conference champions being allowed to play for the title if it were so stipulated before hand. I am a proponent for a playoff system in college football but one which still makes the regular conference schedule important and still allows for that miracle team from some smaller conference to make their way in.

I don't think the PLUS 1 option would settle anything because you could always still argue which bowl games determine the PLUS 1 as well as any other argument that would undoubtedly arise.

It's flawed, it will probably always be flawed to some extent and even if they get it near perfect there will always still be some out there that will find a flaw (real or preserved) with whatever solution they come up with.

Bama didn't have near the quality wins Ok St had either. Simple logic actually.

Yes. Alabama definitely would have lost a game to a team like Iowa St.

Gee. A team that has one 3-point loss against the number one team in the country or a team that has a loss against one of the worst teams in the country?

Exactly. Simple logic.

okie st. didnt "win" the game against stanford... the freshman fg kicker handed it to them on a silver platter with his chock job...stanford contolled the entire game... if i had known before the game how they would sneak by stanford, there is no way that i could have said they were the best deserving 1 loss team in the country...win the division or not... now, if they hammered teh fuck out of stanford, i would think differently... but since they were handed the game on a silver platter, i wouldnt have put them in the title game.

simple logic doesnt concern the SEC haters...
after the SEC wins the title again next yr a mercy rule will be instated like in Tball
