How can anyone say that the regular season doesn't mean anything in NCAAF? It means more than in ANY other sport. BY FAR.

The two best teams played for the national title. It's pretty funny to me that people think that just because it was a rematch that it was a hoax. Plenty of NFL, NBA, NCAAB, etc. teams have played each other in their respective regular seasons prior to facing off in the playoffs and/or title game. What's the difference?

Want shitty football? Create a playoff system where only the conference winners are eligible. Say goodbye to ANY semblence of meaningful out of conference games early in the year. And enjoy the shitfest of a bunch of would-be unranked teams playing powerhouses in the playoffs.

i dont think the bcs and governing bodies ever really intended to have 2 teams from the same conf. play for a title, but in this case, i can rest easy knowing that the 2 best teams played... giving okie st. a chance at lsu might have been the just thing to do, but alabama was a far superior team than okie state and showed how good they can be...

blanking a team that avg. over 35 a game and doubling the avg points lsu allowed is as decisive as a championship game gets... it might not have looked good and having a high scoring team that plays no defense might have been great to watch, but they got it right in the end, imo...

i dunno... mizzu should be entertaining, then that stretch of an improved vandy and tenn teams, followed by so.car in columbia...i can see them losing there...and then 3 of last 5 against aub, florida and ga.tech... i dont think its as easy as you might think

it will be more interesting to see what bama returns and if they can sweep the board...their schedule looks mean as fuck

yeah, but they'd probably be able to at least fill half of the stadiums for those games!

MF has a point here too that possibly some early meaningful games become less important! But most of the contenders should know that 1 loss could knock them out say in a 4 team playoff!

Don't know how you would do it but my main preference would be 4 teams! Like I said before teams 5,6,7 might not be happy but better than one team like #3 AKA Okie St not being happy!

I only watched one full game this year (Bama-LSU) but the Crimson Tide defense seem impassable! But looking at the offense QB appeared efficient but not great! Just looked at Oklahoma St stats and they amassed 550 YPG of offense but also gave 456 YPG on defense! IMO could they stop Bama from just controlling the clock and preventing their offense from getting the ball enough?

I think going to a 4 team playoff format with a semi-final and final will be a done deal. Then they will wait and see what the ratings are for a few years. If they keep going up they will expand to 6 or 8 team playoffs in the next TV contract. But there is no way they stick to the current system. They have milked this system to the point it has dried out now and the fans are turning against them based on the ratings of the LSU/Bama game.

i know nothing about them but I get the sense television ratings are fucking retarded. call me when tvs count eyes and other tvs around them.

Choo i havee pondered this since started watching the NBA at 16. How the fuck can "TV ratings" be a useful index? More importantly to me is how on earth do they pretend to "rate" shows?

what this basically told me is that west coast fans and their cry baby media were too pissed they didnt get anyone in the championship game and/or the media is flat out lying about the viewing %s... and the midwest doesnt like to watch football unless the big 12 is playing...what the fuck else would they be watching?

Ray, you sound miserable pal.

Sounds like you could use a nuru massage.
