If the big argument of the BcS is the regular season matters, head 2 head is a great place to start. Ok St had more high profile wins. Bama only beat 1 team with a winning record I believe. I think they were better than LSU, but when you lose at home to them, that's all we have to go on.

The BCS formula is so complicated for a reason. If it wasn't complicated it couldn't be manipulated by factors like 3-4 different polls (coaches, newspaper writers, etc). In this way the networks (which pay the big bucks for the TV rights) can pick and chose who they want to see in the BCS game. Once college football became a for profit business for both schools and TV networks then it doesn't matter what the average Joe wants to see even though it is a more fair way to determine the champion.

So then the regular season doesn't matter Pavy? Last night proved it.

I'll pencil in Georgia vs the LSU/Bama loser for the BcS championship next year. We'll even have it at a neutral site, like Legion Field in Birmingham.

The BcS wants to be associated with all the major bowls. When it takes a little criticism they back off and say they only determine the 1 vs 2 matchup. They can't even do that right. The coaches should have no say in who makes the title game. I hope the rating for this game sucked. I didn't watch it.

hey dark horse, er, i mean pavy, your latest conspiracy theory would hold more water if the associated press was indeed part of the bcs calculations.

alabama was nothing more than a 'wild card' in the mix this season. we've seen teams that haven't won their divisions win it all on the pro level, why not at the college level? the bcs formula isn't really that complicated. sure, there might be simpler ways to arrive at the same ending, but the bcs has done its job since it started, and that was to put the no. 1 and no. 2 teams against each other in a single bowl game. alabama was certainly a better team than any 2nd-place squad in any other conference, the pac-12 perhaps having the only possible argument to make against that opinion of mine.

the biggest injustice this year was what took place in the sugar and orange bowls. there's not a viable argument to make for the big east having a team in the bcs bowls either of the past two seasons, at least none based on talent and performance on the field, and boise state was a team left out that should've taken the place of one from the trio of west virginia/va tech/michigan.

BB,

There are too many polls that can be manupulated. Harris poll, usa today poll, etc. They manupulate the presidential elections and you don't think they can manipulate polls on who is the best team in college football? Let the games be decided on the field and not in the polls. Can you name one other country that decides the winner of a major sport using polls? (soccer, cricket, basketball, etc)?

It's all about the benjamins. The college presidents and the networks are working in cahoots. Money buys everything.

yes, pavy, the whole world is rigged by 'they' :bigyawn:

i don't give a rat's rump how any other country decides their sports champions. if you're in favor of a playoff system that only allows conference champions, then be consistent and show me your outrage at other systems with wild card entries (nfl, mlb, nba, nhl, etc).

I don't give a rat's ass about the current system either. I like the way NCAA basketball does it. No one ever argues about that system because is balanced and fair. Get rid of the Bowl system and use the playoff system which is succesful in basketball.

I like the NFL, MLB ,NBA , NHL systems of crowning their champion. It's the college football that I hate because it's based on greed.

hold on there, pod'ner. just how the hell is it that 'they' aren't manipulating the college basketball system? have you taken a close look at the inequities in the mlb schedule the past 10-12 years? hate to break it to you, but 'they' have been manipulating the hell outta' that deal.

just for giggles, pavy, humor me with your college football playoff plan. how many teams will get into the pavy playoff system, and how will those teams qualify for inclusion? who is going to be in charge of making sure all regular season schedules are fairly established? will it be the same folks in charge of making certain all conferences are balanced and equitable? and just how much are you willing to pay notre dame to join a conference for football?
