\with radiation levels at 1,000 millisieverts per hour, who wants to be working at fukushima right now?

levels are so extreme they had to pull everyone out. at this point i believe its completely out of control. the japanese wont give up easily and perhaps some of the workers at the plant are even willing to die to try to stop this but were talking about multiple reactor core meltdowns (not just one).

were already at a Level Six Nuclear Disaster and even if they stop this thing now, this will end up a Seven with exclusion zones around the reactor... as in nobody can live there. but if you disagree with me, go ahead and invest in fukushima real estate.

What does this mean for japan and the rest of the world?

exposure to 350 mSv in a lifetime was the criterion for relocating people after the Chernobyl accident. the lowest level proven to be carcinogenic is 100 mSv/year.

no fly zone declared 30 klicks around fukushima

The ultimately depends on the strength and direction of winds. Potassium iodide pills are currently big business on eBay.

geiger counters are selling for $200-$500 on ebay currently. this is a product that would normally cost $20-$50

Very scary.

No sandbags, no concrete was poured prior to pulling the last employees out of there. How will nuclear practitioners spin this?

Now they're using water cannons. Common.

Washington, please tell us that our emergency OPS plan does not include squirt guns.

I think the newer plants have way more efficient built-in security mechanisms. They don't even need to be actively cooled.

Upgrade yer shit Japanese foks.

If you had raw eggs on the palm of your hands and walked towards the reactor how long would it take for them to fry, over easy?

They are dropping water from a helicopter. That's like trying to put out a forest fire with a garden hose. They are probably getting their ideas from watching Godzilla movies.
