Just curious, what are your total moto costs so far?

Bike- $1800
Coils- $100
Battery-$50
Windshield-$150

Replacement parts at least 1500, of which only about 500 were essential - got an extra windshield, NOS tank, NOS taillight, lower fairing, etc.

Essential parts were

Battery 50
Coils 40
Spark plugs 20
Rear tire 100
Vented gas cap 40
Rear brake line 25

I like tinkering.

Ah, ok not bad.

I used to tinker with my cars a lot so I got that out of my system.

I suppose I would feel comfortable about spending around 3k to get my bike, since it seems to even out.

Shit's going to break no matter what. I knew I would have to put about 1000 bucks on my FJ when I bought it. Part of my plan was to learn how bikes worked.

Going to pull out the carb rack this winter and take it apart to see what's what.

Sounds like a fun project. How many miles on bike?

I might check 650R #2 this weekend. What problems could it have with the low miles?

Prolly nothing major, bike could be fine, just like it could have a dying battery because of low use/neglect, dry/cracked tires because of improper storage, etc.

I mean, you were asking me to choose blindly between that more expensive 2006 and the cheaper 2008 with higher miles. The 2008 is an easy pick.

My bike had 39k kilometers when I bought it, now 42k, which is 26k miles. That's way low for a 28 year old beater.

I did my closed-circuit test on a CBR250R with ABS. Silly little bike but the braking was amazing. I'm a believer.
