Yeah. I think the whole region is struggling to attract peeps here in the winter, there's no ski resort or anything. Used to be a fishing town. Now it's a bunch of inns that get booked during the summer.

It's absolutely gorgeous, but also kind of desolate.

One cool thing about being a Quebecer is that the Catholic church has always kept amazing records.

Our first plan was to book the historical house that once belonged to my mom's aunt, but they didn't want kids around their pool for insurance reasons. Anyway, a simple Google search reveals that aunt's full name, date of birth and death, location of her tombstone, and the fact that her house once belonged to the guy who wrote the original lyrics to O Canada.

We just went to visit that house, the owner let us roam around for a bit.

Nah, the first Rain was a notary in France. He was granted a decent piece of New France land which he had to work with his kids. There's documentation saying that he sold a sailboat he built himself.

Yah, probably need to hire specialized contractors. The owners live in more modern construction next door. Lots of inns are set up that way here. I'd be interested to look at their financials, it seems like a tough business to be in. Way too seasonal here.

How much was to rent the whole inn for yall? How many rooms it has?

It was $3k for 5 rooms, 3 nights. $200 per room per night. I think there are three more rooms.

The high season here lasts no more than 3 months. And from what I gather most restaurants and touristy attractions close between December and May.

We're headed to Trois-Pistoles right now, another historic town. Joe Rain is in the red car.
