There are bunch of US airports that require 10-digit fingerprint. That would take some time unless they take the prints in one shot.

I leave and enter Singapore airport without talking to an immigration agent just by scanning my passport and thumb.

I think they all do, you put down 4 fingers and the then the thumb, and then the other hand. Maybe it takes 15 seconds, but it's not a long time.

US citizens can now apply for a quick entry like that, you have to be pre-approved.
