Political views should not have any effect in someone's job performance. We condemned the old Soviet Union for silencing the people who disagreed with their policies and now we are doing the same to Ozzie even though we preach First Amendment rights for everyone. Let him say whatever he wants. I find most of the stuff he says amusing and I'm never insulted by it.

The first amendment doesn't apply to speech while working in any capacity for a private business. The Marlins are very unlike the Soviet Union as they are not a government. But I agree that he is simply amusing and there is no reason for me to be insulted.

When you're the manager of a team that is supposed to be MARKETABLE to the general public and you continuously make unprovoked, outlandish, and polarizing comments, it may cost the team fans. The Marlins historically haven't really been a team that can afford to lose fans. His personal political views should be just that - PERSONAL. His very occupation is the ONLY reason that anyone even hears the nonsense that he regularly spews. While I think he's a nutjob, yes, he has every RIGHT to say what he wants. That doesn't mean that he has every right to keep his job for it though.

Plommer, this should help you out by definition! Stick with being a Cuban pussy expert! You're welcome!

resident/ˈrez(ə)dənt/
Noun:
A person who lives somewhere permanently or on a long-term basis.
Adjective:
Living somewhere on a long-term basis.
Synonyms:
inhabitant - denizen - dweller - habitant - occupant

If they are residents of Miami they are US residents not Cuban residents.

A Cuban resident resides in Cuba, common.

Want to get back at American politicians? Make American tourists (see "other people") get fingerprinted.

Brilliant.

That'll teach those bullies.

It worked! He annoyed enough people in Washington to make it newsworthy.

F0cker you're a smart guy so I don't feel the need to explain everything, I assume you're sharp enough to get the message I'm trying to convey.

Not sure about the present but in the past America has required certain foreign nationals to be fingerprinted at customs/immigration, when arriving in the US. Some people are offended by this, it's a shitty way to treat a guest, so Venezuela implemented the same policy for Americans travelling there and it pissed off the US , apparently treating others like shit is ok but when it happens to Yanks its not cool.

The US has a great tradition of treating people well. Look how they used to treat Africans.

Plommer, I meant that they were residents of Miami who were of Cuban ethnic background! We need an English language expert to give us a ruling?

The Italians in my beautiful hometown are residents of Toronto.

You are referring to Cuban ex-pats that reside in Miami, and are therefore US residents.

Mr Monkey Plommer wins this one, pal.

The right to private tyranny is the only significant amendment in the constitution.

OK! An all-around losing day for me so far! So I get to watch The Voice and Smash tonight with MrsM! Is that a winning or losing night?
Monkey you are waaaaaay ahead in the "having immediate access to smokin hot pussaaay" department, pal.

You are winning because of what happens between the two of you AFTER "The Voice and Smash" are done.

Plommer is envious of the Monkey household late night bed spring squeaking!

All non-citizens (even those with permanent US residency) are now fingerprinted and have their picture taken every time they enter the usa.

:redx:

Canadians are definitely exempt and are not fingerprinted when entering the USA.

While entering the U.S. by land at Canada border, general exceptions to US-VISIT, as described above, apply. Following additional rules apply:
Canadian citizens:
Most Canadian citizens are exempt from the US-VISIT program. That includes:

Those who are visa-exempt or traveling on B1/B2 visa.
Studying or working in the U.S. who normally do not have non-immigrant visas in their passports.
Applicants for admission at primary vehicle inspection presenting a valid, unexpired, multiple-entry Form I-94
must be admitted without being subject to secondary inspection even if the applicant is not yet enrolled in US-VISIT.

However, the following Canadians are subject to US-VISIT program:

Canadians
with dual nationality who present a non-Canadian passport are subject to US-VISIT program. Canadians who are required to obtain a Form I-94 or who require a waiver of admissibility to enter the U.S.

Fukkin country is so god damned paranoid!

It's mostly desperate people that want in to America (and that the US is trying to keep out) and they tend to cross the border illegally.

There are plenty of Americans that won't come to Canada because of the hassle and vice versa with Canucks to the USA.

North American border crossings are hell compared to the way it's done in Europe.

I keep hearing the propaganda about how "friendly" the US and Canada are as nations towards each other. I would agree except for the border crossing part.

The people most offended by the comments are those first generation immigrants. I talked to a 74-year-old Cuban immigrant (huge Marlins fan) today and he understood Ozzie was a "big mouthed Venezuelan" before he came to the Marlins and as long as they win he does not care. Many of the first generation Cubans' children and grandchildren are upset because it has brought up their difficult past and the very reason why they had to leave the country that they loved.

It does not conjure up any emotions to the vast majority of us that are not afflicted by the comments but I reserve judgement of the comments until I can see them in their entirety. Although it is incomprehensible that he would utter the words sequentially "I love Fidel Castro," it is hard to believe he meant it literally.

I love people that are not afraid to say what they really think and feel. I would trust these people before I would trust somebody that would tell you one thing to your face and another behind your back. It's ridiculous that he would make these comments knowing what the Marlins are trying to accomplish in developing a multicultural experience, but I hope he is not exiled for the comments.

This is true. And then people wonder why the US tourist industry sucks and Las Vegas has no jobs. Who in their right mind would fly from overseas to Vegas to spend his money for fun when he has to be fingerprinted at the airport?

Yeah. I know what you're trying to say, but that's pretty ticky tack in the grand scheme of things.
