I really would like to, but fuck it... No Jury Duty

If you could promise me a short and interesting trial to sit in on, i wouldnt mind and would actually jump at the opportunity to do it and get it done with...or if you could promise me that i wont just sit on my ass in a waiting room for a week with absolutely nothing to do, i might go for it as well...but me and Jury Duty simply wont get along this time around...:donthinkso: ... i cant take a chance of being at court everyday for any extended period of time

I know its my civil duty and someday i will get called back to serve and ill accept, but driving downtown every morning in this heat and dealing with the scummy shit that surrounds the big court house is just too much whoreshit to deal with... so i have gone out of my way to get Dr. letters to excuse me this time around... am i a shitbag? maybe...but i am simply not in the mood

i know the laws change from state to state, but this pretty much summed up what i thought...

"If you're over 18, a U.S. citizen, reside in the county that summoned you, understand English,
have not served on a jury within the last 12 months, haven't been convicted of a felony, are physically and mentally capable of serving, and are either registered to vote, licensed to drive, pay taxes, or received unemployment benefits. (That pretty much covers everybody!)"

i remember something about a drivers license law going into effect, not sure if every state doing it though

last time i got called was 14yrs ago and i was taking some night classes at memphis...that got me out of it that time

every cop here has a mandatory court day once a month... and picking up court duty is one of the easiest ways the guys make some overtime

ohio passed a law in 2005 stating they could pool from drivers licenses if they wanted. as of 2 years ago they had never used that pool in my (former) area, for a few reasons. selection bias being the main one.

tennessee is always near the top in crime rates...especially here in memphis, its fucking bad...if you are over 18 and can see, speak and hear, you are getting called for jury duty...

My experiences are documented around here some place but I have always enjoyed serving. Didn’t enjoy the 2 times I wasn’t selected but the 2 times I served were pretty cool.

I don’t enjoy it out of a sense of doing my civil duty or pride. I simply enjoy the trial process and seeing how attorney’s drop the ball or outshine the other. I also like the jury room process. Going over and evaluating what we have heard in court in the way of evidence and testimony and how 8 people can rarely agree that they all interpreted it all the same.

I did do jury duty as a civilian back in the day. A DUI trial.

got some dr letters from my dads heart and lung dr's stating that i am responsible for him in an unpaid caregiver type of way...should do the trick...One Timee! i wasnt about to depend on any other method... i have family in the courts, in the way of asst. da to immigration affairs, but was unsure if that would exempt me from anything...

i have found , that lately, i enjoy hot sake more than vodka and drugs...havent done any white in quite a while :donthinkso: ... but getting a felony on my sheet is not the way i want to dodge the duty ... i have the phone (with espn live golf coverage) with me today as ill sit in a coliseum of probably 2500 and wait to get called to the front... we dont expect today to be too bad
