Craigs list never again

Put an ad on CL yesterday to find someone to move my very heavy treadmill downstairs. Got a few responses...replied to the first one...he came over when I was not here ( Lori, cleaning gal negotiated the deal) Turns out that guy had to take a bus and had to go back for tools...He is coming back over today in an hour to do the job.

In the interim, she tell me his name, that he looks homeless and he is Native American. I google the guy and if it's the same one, he is a RSO for having sex with a 9 and 10 year old. I am a little disturbed. Call up Lori, describe the guy..she is sure it's the same one and now tells me not to let him in the house. I say if he's dangerous, it will probably just piss him off. She says "they" don't trust Indians around here. WTH? Not sure why she didn't tell me this yesterday and I am not sure what he would do anyway. If he likes young ones, mom and I won't do much for him. What's he going to do, steal my clothes?

I asked if he would take a check and he said yes, so must not be too unstable as to not even have a checking account.
Maybe it's not even the same guy, but I have a feeling it is. If I don't post again today call the SF police Andy.
 
Sweety, don't ever invite strangers to your home....why not ask a neighbor to help...shit you and Lori could probably have moved it together. I would cancel it, or lock up and just not be home when he is supposed to show, although he already knows where you live. I wouldn't be too scared because like you said, he likes children, I'd shoot him if I could....I still wouldn't want him in my house though....good luck darling. Just keep your phone on you and have 911 predialed if you feel so inclined.
 
Well, he was in the house yesterday. I am not even %100 sure it is same guy but with the name, I'm pretty sure it is.


Yeah Cami, I had sent him a message thru CL last night telling him the time Lori had set up would not work for me and would have to be here earlier and if didn't hear from him by 8:30 then I would assume he didn't want the job and would look elsewhere.

I think the worse thing would be being gone or cancelling job and then pissing him off.
I don't want a bunch of angry unemployed Indians at my door.


As far as what I was thinking? I was thinking it was a cheap way to get a treadmill moved. I found a guy to do my yard on there. I would never use it for personals, but for labor, I thought it was generally considered ok. SF is a pretty safe town. I am sure it will be fine?? Makes me want to take down the childhood pics of me hanging in the hallway though. Gross.
 
leave a 20 dollar check on the porch with a note that says it is already done. Never again let a stranger that answers a craigs list ad in your home..Call a mover...a neighbors brother or refered handyman or anybody who is not some random guy. Ever.
 
Just stick to a neighbor or something next time. I personally could never turn anywhere for help from a stranger, I have a hard enough time not feeling awkward with plumbers, cable men ect. let alone some random person off of a website. Just be safe darlin.

I'm a bit angry with myself. You have to understand no one even locked their doors when I grew up here. I understand times have changed.

I'm more worried about him being late since he has no transportation, and getting mom to daybreak late.
 
I am not going to argue with you IAG...I just don't think its a good idea...Maybe for some...but not for you...You and your mother are vulnerable. Not saying anything to be rude...At the end of the day..I am sure everything will be fine....but I still don't like it.

I'm sure my brothers would not be happy with me either. I had one reputable moving guy I called at the same time but he did not call me back quickly enough and I want this done before company gets here this weekend. If he shows up in a golf cart trying to put two fingers in my ass, i'm running. Than you for your concern HP, it's endearing.

p.s. He's already late. Can't stand when people are late.
