How long have you been on the Internet?

I've been on since 1999. My first internet machine was this Chinese set top box that you plugged on the tv with the yellow white red cables. It was bulky like a VCR. I can't remember the name. It had a keyboard and you used to scroll with with the arrow keys. It had some special keys like address bar key, back, forward and such.

First site I went to ever was the Popular Mechanics website.

I imagine some people are nearing 20 years on the Internet.

I remember talking with Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath on some early live chat forum

At least I thought it was him

My first chat was on AOL, some music-related chatroom. Guys were talking about Rush like they were gods. I typed, in all caps:

Someone promptly replied

MATTY SOUNDS LIKE A GUITARIST WITH NO TALENT

Joe Rain LOL'ed at that.

I remember laughing our heads off about some live chats. Don't ask me the topic. Just remember the hysterics.

Couldn't tell you any details about the hardware or software.

1993 when I first went to college. They had email and internet back then. It was called Netscape I think. That was before Internet Explorer.

I went on the Internet before 1996, but our first at-home Internet access came then. We convinced our Mom that it was worth spending $20 a month to block her phone line all day.

Yes I was speaking of at home internet as well.

The stuff in high school didn't really count in my book.

2400 bps modem

That was top of the line back then. Cost me $2000!
