Half of my family converted between the wars when in Germany, the other side fled to America. My family that made it out right before the Nazi's took over were terribly ridiculed and while of higher social background, forced to live in the ghetto of Indiana (the only state where they knew anyone) because they were German AND Jewish (not a popular combo at the time). So to try to make life a little better, my great grandparents converted to Lutheran, however practiced Judaism behind closed doors. My Grandmother thought this was weird and declared herself an atheist, as is my mother. When I was in 5th grade I learned this and told my Mom and Dad I wanted to learn more about my heritage, so I went to hebrew school and fell in love with the religion. While I was not born in to Judaism directly, I descend from Jewish heritage on the maternal side. This, according to the Torah, makes me Jewish (as I have never been any other religion). My Dad is Episcopalian, so I grew up with Christmas, but I never grew up going to church or anything. My parents don't care about religion. Once I got to high school I really studied my heritage and met with a Rabbi and was accepted into the fold ;-). I'm not as passionate about it now, but I consider myself Jewish.

Cali. I thought you had said previously that you don't believe in God. How can you not believe in God and call yourself Jewish?
Btw, I think Judaism is fascinating. I just recently learned that Jews don't believe in Hell. Also everyone should do a Thanksgiving video...I know you will...but I wish some others would as well.

Just finished eating turkey, stuffing, green beans, mash potatoes, sweet potatoes and a couple rolls. Washing all down with a Modelo Special right now. We left the food on the table so we can eat again after a nap. Not going out in the cold to save $10 shopping. Thank God for internet!
 
There are different kinds of Christians right? There are different types of Judaism as well not All jews don't eat pork.

I will post a link later when I'm on the computer to show you guys the different types of Judaism, Since the stereotypes which you believe don't fall for everyone.

I get there are different types of Judaism, but fundamentally they all believe in God. You do realize that the Jewish God is the same God as the Christian God?
 
I've had a few beers since noon. I am at the uncomfortable place where you drank just enough to start getting a buzz, but it's also just enough that you feel every ache and pain in your body....I think I need about three more beers and then I'll be feelin alright....thank gosh dinner will be done in about 20 minutes.
