My whole existence revolves around Hamilton. My parents were both born there and went to McMaster. My grandparents lived and died there. My brother lives there. I have aunts and uncles there.

My last job was all Hamilton people.

There are cool people and less cool people. There are a lot of aging men with gray hair in ponytails (including my brother). That seems to be a Hamilton style. It is often accompanied by bad teeth. Looks awful to me but no one asked me.

It's a mixed bag. The route to my brother's place sure ain't pretty. It's like a big dying industrial section. But there are nicer areas too. Where my grandmother lived, up the road from McMaster, was a very charming area.

Hamilton.

I'll say this: I find Hamilton more appealing than where I was brought up which is Brampton. Hamilton has some character and some things to do. Brampton is just this big, flat, sterile expanse of unimaginative housing developments with a bunch of gas stations and strip malls sprinkled in.

Which is trashiest, Hamilton or Oshawa? Cause I've been to a "jack and jill" in Oshawa and oh my.

Hamilton and Oshawa are about equally trashy IMO (Wal).

Hamilton is much larger though and has neighborhoods on Barton St E that are vastly more trashy than any area in the Shwa.

Plommer has very much liked the results of cruising Barton St E on a hot summer night at 3AM.

PS: The official nickname for Hamilton is "The Hammer" and Oshawa is known locally as "The Shwa".
