i guess its different in ny since a lot of people walk and take cabs... you would have a hard time getting a 3rd pitcher (by yourself) or more than 12 beers here...

I have a problem with that. I don't think it's the bartender's responsibility for how you get home...

Everyone always wants to blame everyone and everything else - other than the person that's responsible these days.

My nose is leaking.

I have not had a leaky nose in a long time.

It's not even self-induced.

I never used to worry about drunk driving. I'd just snort a couple of lines and be good to drive for a while.

Probably not the best idea, but I never had an accident or got pulled over.

Maybe it's cause I don't get drunk or drink but at what point does someone drinking consciously lose the ability to be responsible for themselves and a bartender or someone conscious take over that responsibility?

I mean I get what you are saying but at some point the drunk is too drunk to be trusted with being responsible for not getting in their vehicle and killing you in a head on collision, right?

At what point are they "too drunk," Wally? Who knows "the drunk's" limit better - a bartender or the person drinking?

Who knows how "the drunk" is getting home? "The drunk" or the bartender?

I don't think anyone has ever had that much beer and all this food in one sitting. Good job Blitty!

almost

according to my research, it was Andre the Giant

but some fat fok known only as "wally" once ate 3x what Andre at a buffet in some Mississippi Bar after a local weekend tourney wearing a bright red golf shirt and white hat and shades....

oddly enough he only sipped diet coke and didn't imbibe any alcohol, so he doesn't qualify for this specific record

I will contend that regardless of how drunk a person gets they are ultimately responsible for their actions. Maybe not consciously at the time they do something stupid but certainly in getting themselves to that point. They would have made a conscious decision to start drinking in the first place and not taken precautions in case it went too far.

I don't know. While I wouldn't be looking to sue a waitress or bartender who continued to serve someone who was obviously too drunk I would certainly be indebted to either of those who stepped in and took the keys away from or alerted a cop to anyone who might get in their vehicle and potentially kill me or someone I cared about.
