While on the same subject lets also ban all cats because meowing and hissing is considered extreme aggression as well as the potential threat of getting scratched and getting rabies or other multitudes of skin diseases. Then ban bicycles, motorcycles, cars, boats, buses, big trucks, beer, wine, scotch, and basically everything that can potentially harm you. Ban people too!

nothing wrong with being blind to the stories and statistics when you have a pet that you think would never hurt a soul...you see it everywhere you look now, owners who have never seen aggression from their dogs are going on these rants about how its not the dog, its the owners...and for the most part, they are correct...sadly, its families like yours that have the unexpected happen to them from time to time and it cant be explained and thats why its not worth the risk for me...

No they are getting a bad rap because of their exposure of articles in the news. I don't know the numbers thought so maybe the other dogs are just as harmful, but for whatever reason the media doesn't circlejerk around it?

Actually, according to Wikipedia pitbulls are clearly the main culprit. I wasn't aware of that. Would've expected Rotts to be almost tied.

There are 70 milion dogs in the US and about 34 deaths per year from dog bites in which in only 13 deaths the breed was pitbull.

I will take my chances with 1 in 5.4 million.

I have killed animals before with a 2x4. If a dog (of any breed) attacks me they will have to deal with a blow to the head from a 2x4 at 50 mph.

That is not cooper! omg!!!!! I love GSs. Teela I had one growing up and when my oldest was a baby, BEST DOG IN THE WORLD! So smart and so gentle yet protective of little ones. They are one of the top 5 family dogs to have!

That is Cooper - he's growing very fast. He gained seven pounds in the last two weeks between vet appointments.


I saw that German Shepherds were listed as being one of the worst for attacking people. I think, like with any dog, it depends on the owner. Some dogs just have nasty temperaments, regardless of breed.

Wow, he is growing super fast!! He got so big and his color is coming through!
Ours was very protective, we had someone try to break in once and you should seen Gunner (that was his name) go crazy, never seen a dog show his teeth or growl that way before. Very protective. Our dog never attacked anyone though.
