Let's say you were driving down a street ...maybe 30 =40 mph and see an animal in the road ahead of you....like a puppy or a cat. There is a car close enough behind you that if you suddenly braked you would be rear ended. If you swerve to avoid running over the animal, you will likely hit a car in opposing traffic. What would you do?
I was thinking about this because I saw a freshly dead animal in the middle of the street the other day. I was able to swerve to avoid running right over it in this instance because there was no traffic.
It got me to wondering what I would do if there was traffic...I don't like the idea of feeling my vehicle mushing over a carcass. Then I began to wonder what I would do if it were alive.
I think my natural reaction in that moment would be to brake and let the pieces fall where they may. I do not think I could run over any kind of animal...especially of the family pet variety.
WWYD?
