What ages (Silver, Bronze, Modern)?

I liked X-Men. When I was 8.

I read a few as a kid... Had some of the dead Superman storyline.

I've found that most comics from 1992+ are not worth thier cover price as the industry went into an overproduction strategy to appease wanna-be collectors. Much like sports cards, anything from the Bronze age or prior (pre-'83) tend to have some value. I've always been a collector, coins, stamps, sports cards, really anything... However, I never got into comics.

There are some pretty good adult oriented comics out there full of women, drugs, dark (goth) shit but for the most part all of the indie/alt stuff is crap. There is a reason classic "Superhero" type stuff is ubiquitous, they contain compelling stories and art.

Bah. Typcial collector.

Google doesn't show you active sales. If I list my '86 Honda Civic on autotrader for 1,000,000 does that mean an '86 Civic is worth up to 1mil?

Look at completed listings on ebay (advanced search settings) that's an actual working market.
